Opposite Cafe Annes on the main road to the beach there is a small shop called Buse Market, I bought a few things in there and was given two 250,000 lire notes in my change I should have wondered why she kept saying small money, I found out later why
That evening I bought a few things for my granddaughters and gave up the two notes with the rest of the money to pay for them, only to be told that they were no longer valid and had not been for ages, I was as you can imagine very embarressed and annoyed. I did no more but go back to the shop and demand my money back, this was given with no hesitation, except the little money routine again and the offer of a sweet, I nearly told him where he could shove that . Yes I know that it is a small amount of money but for all I know they may have a sackful of them under the counter, and if I had been that much short of the asking price would he have let me have the goods if I had said only small money, I think not!
I have put this post on so that you should all be very careful when using this shop.

The notes with all the noughts on them are still valid until 31st december, so they were telling your lies.
i've just got back from Turkey and at the airport I needed a fruit juice, despite the prices, I was given an old note in my change and and said it will no good for me next year, reluctantly The man gave me a 1YTL coin.
So beware at Dalaman if you buy anything in lire, check ypur change before leaving the counter.

All the notes except the 250,000 are, they went out of circulation a while ago. I must admit that I find the new notes much better.

When I was in Tansas the girl on the till asked me if i had a 250,000 to give her, i said i had a 25 ytl which i thought was the same but she just scowled at me and said forget it So how come if they are not legal still Tansas asked me for them????????

After I had been given the notes and then been embarresed trying to pass them my friend Claire who used to run the Pop Inn restaurant agreed that they were no longer currency. The notes have been replaced with a coin maybe that was what the girl wanted you to give her in Tansas.
