Old Icmeler - back when it was better1

Postby flora79 » 29 Sep 2005 22:01

Well I have to admit than I'm actually relatively new to icmeler having only been for the last four years - but I do feel that every year it seems to lose some of it's original charm!

I thought it'd be fun to remenisce a bit about the good ol' days!!!!

Anyone go to eastenders when it was the buffalo bar??? Anyone go to the hobnob before the refurb' and introduction of prepubescent teenagers????

Anyone remember Davids Bar,next to Fortuna Hotel.
Its demolished now along with a couple of more bars and a corner shop.
We used to spend every night here when we first started visiting Icmeler, this was in the days when I didnt like Efes and used to drink brandy and lemonade.
David was married to a German girl and when they demolished his bar about 4 years ago he went to live in Germany.

How many remember The Black Rock now trading under the name Cafe Del Mar.
Its slogan was "The finest view in the Universe" and how true it was because it still is.
This is the first place in Icmeler were I had my Efes served in a frosted glass and you had to wait till 1oclock pm during the lunchtime period when the place was packed with sunbathers seeking the shade of the overhanging trees and lunch was being served before these frosted glasses were used.

I remember the Three Bells being further down the main road with another row of pubs- now all shops. The Eastenders was it not the Ebony Disco or the Joy disco the other one was on the top of the hill up from the waterfall. The train use to go up to the old town and there was hardly anything there- we got a shock this year. All the backstreets around by the chip shop being built.... The Antik being in the main square.....Memories

Hi all, was just thinking back to when we first visited Icmeler. The music in the pubs didn't get turned down bang on 12.00 at night. The Non Stop bar was great to watch break dancers, this is now called The Lion bar. The small water park at the end of Tansas street has closed down now, which I thought was ideal for families and kids of all ages!! I still however love Icmeler and if anything the place completely pulls on your heart strings! Great memories.

Who remembers the ladies toilets in Deniz's - they ain't changed much - slightly cleaner- we first went there 7 / 8 years ago and somebody broke the handle off the ladies door- it came off in her hand, they didn't replace it for years. Thats when there use to be between 30/ 40 people sitting on the beach at night. Don't really go there now. Mr Cooks was a quiet restaurant - thats quite a joke now. The Mirage had a bar at the front and like many they were quite bare.

Above was me too

One of the most memorable nights out I have had was a bar crawl in marmaris with direct holidays- this yeat again is going back 7 / 8 years - we were slightly p****d and managed to persuade the many on the bus to go back to Deniz's for a nightcap or 2. It was a great night- complete strangers all having a laugh.

Yes remember the direct hols pub crawl, we missed the coach back and had to walk. Remember the days the bars didn't have to stop playing there music at 12 oclock, though getting older this is no longer such a bad thing, and does anybody miss the apple pie man, dodgy pies, but he was a character, and you just had to buy one cos you felt sorry for him.
