Driving in Icmeler/ Turkey

Postby gaz » 18 May 2008 16:21

I would be very interested to hear of anybodies experiences, good or bad, about hiring a car in Icmeler/Turkey. I have driven in Spain, Portugal, Greece etc without any problems but from what I have seen, I am not quite sure about driving in Turkey!

Hubby drives in Greece bout wouldn't entertain it in Turkey - but that's just him.

It's so cheap on the dolmus anyway.

I've driven quite a few times in turkey, (mostly with my husband in the car who is turkish so can tell me which way to turn!!) I find it ok now. There are some crazy drivers about who will bully you, but I find just staying calm and let them through, pass etc is the easiest. I've drove to and from the airport a few times and even some of the way to Mersin last year, which was a mammoth 12 hour journey!!
Never had any problems with hiring a car, but saying that my husband does all that. However a few years back me and a couple of friends hired one for the day and found it quite a nice way to get about, never had any problems at all, apart from getting lost that is!!!!

HI

I drive every year and have had no problems you soon get use to the way the Turks drive

What I would say is if you are looking to hire a car then use someone like ICR we didn't the first year we went and the jeep was like a death trap we sent it back and got our money back
