Could any of you icmerlites out there give me some info about the 2 bedroom apartments at the Captain Silver. Are they on the ground floor and do they have a table & chairs outside them. Is there air-con in both bedrooms. Do they have a toaster or, do I have to take my own designer toaster (made from a metal coat hanger). Is there any where to dry your towels etc. Any info would be greatful.

Hi, we stayed in them last year. there's only about 5 of them all near the bar / pool area.
No where to hang your washing (I think I answered someones query before but it will have dropped down the forum by now). I hung the clothes on coat hangers and left the door open. There was one maiden which the owner didnt want on show, we kept getting told off. 3 of the apts have view of the pool, the other 2 have view of the side of the owners office.
Chairs there were some, not enough if 6 of you in the room, people next to us were given camping fold up ones.
No toaster provided, I took my own cheapo Tesco one. there was a kettle, some sort of coffee machine, no TV in our room, but someone else had one, which didnt work.
the back bedroom the window faces onto the rocky hill about 1 foot between the window and the rocks, we kept the curtain shut. the 2nd room is within the apartment, with a opening glass window into the living room kitchen. a tip keep the metal fob thing separate from your key and then leave it on while out at night, the room is lovely and cool, because that second bedroom only gets the air thats in the apt. You couldnt go to sleep with the windows / door open because of no balcony type area to
Because the bar area and pool table is above, you do get shoe / heel, pool balls dropping noise which seems amplified when at night. or if the owners son gets bladdered and smashes the office door, somehow i managed to sleep through that bit of excitement last year.
No hot or even warm water came out of the shower even though i reported it a few times, got to the stage when you duck in and duck out. None of the apts had warm water. the pool was warmer.
The couple of advantages of the 2 bed apts were that there was no stairs to climb and you could have a brew whenever you wanted. I dont know what larger families would do as they didnt appear to have 2 fold up beds anywhere, we had 2 folding armchair things that when we were testing it was about 4ft long flat so only a smallish child could sleep on it.
we were in the apt slap bang next to the bar.
Grounds are nice though, only saw the goats once, which the kids liked, never spotted the tortoise but it was very hot so was most likely hiding in the shadows. Reception area very clean and tidy.
There was the usual fight for sunbeds, we gave up, and actually did take some towels off because some people put them out at midnight to 1am which is very selfish and we cant blame other nationalities because we were all Brits that were there.
Hope that helps.

Are they really that bad?!
Apart from 1 other review on a different review website, this is the first time I've read something bad about these appartments. Many reviewers have given them full marks!
We have our holiday booked here this Summer, and from many photos I've seen of this place, I cannot imagine them being THAT bad!

Hi all, thanks for the replies. Hubby normaly does this but i thought i should have a go. Most reports we have read have been good .Bit concerned about lack of hot water, dont think our girls will be happy...... a 16 year old washing long curly hair in cold water

Hubby wont mind he has no hair.

I would like to know how we are expected to dry towels and swimwear though

It will be good to hear your report lfc pete.

dont know about the 2 bedroom apartments but stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 10 days in june.
there were only 1 other couple there for the majority of our stay so we had the pick of the sunbeds, which had thick padded cushions and hugh umbrellas for shade.
we also had a little thing on left hand side of balcony that was for drying clothes. dont know if the other apartments had the same. from what i can remember the water wasnt very hot but was enough for a couple of quick showers, may not be great for family of 4 though.
as it was our 1st time in turkey i thought the apartments a bit basic but realise now that is quite normal. they were very centrally located, only a few mins walk to the beach and crossroads, and about a minute to the mersoy for your turkish bath.
did consider staying there again this year but have decided to try the old village instead.
hope that you enjoy your holiday.

this will be our 4th time at capt.silver.i can not fault it.we never had a problem with hot water for showers and we have stayed in june, july and september.
if you are in the main apatrments they have balcony with drying rail on balcony.the apartments that are round the pool must be the 2 bedroom but talking to a couple and there two 18 year old daughter and friend last summer they did not have any problem in the rooms.
we could have changed to other complexs but in our opinion this is a VERY NICE clean complex, ideal location great setting and i do thing the earlier post is a bit harsh.
every body has an opinion but i dont think you will be dissapointed.

Dear lfc Pete
Please remember to fill us in on your return as i am rather concerned about Bev's previous comments. We are staying in a 2 bedroomed apartment in july for three weeks and the thought of not being able to dry your towels ,cozzies ,smalls!!etc poses a bit of a threat especially when you've got two young girls and a big husband to cope with!!Also there are
some pictures on the forum if you put in search engine and there doesn't look like there are table and chairs outside just bean bag things which are great for the kids but not very good for keeping your beverage in your glass!!We stayed in apartments in turkey before which had no table and chairs on the balcony so we just dragged the ones inside apt out and there appeared to be no problem but the apartments do seem a bit stricter. So let us know when you return
thanks
Debbie
ps lfc pete great name by the way we're gonna win the league next year promise!!!!

Hi liverbird, your concerns were exactly what ours are. Can't understand how 1 bedroom apartments have chairs on the balcony and an airer etc but not the 2 bed ones which could have more poeple in them. Seems strange! Maybe some one from admin could confirm what they have or have not got. We often like to end our night with a drink on the balcony while the kids get of to sleep.

not saying this because we sell it but captain silver apartments are considered to be the best apartments in
icmeler and this has not changed over the years. i am sure we have all seen better in our lives but for icmeler, i would say they are still the best next to iguana.
hot water problems, towel problems may and will happen at any given property yet it is not a constant issue.
thanks
Rami

cheriton, you got chairs outside the 2 br ones too..but obviously, being a few steps from the pool they dont have a balcony, they are on ground level.

Sorry if i've caused concerns, but if you were in those 2 bed apts that would be exactly what was there. And the question was "what were they like"
The grounds are nice and green, with huge cushions,
icmeler is gorgeous, the goats are cute. No mossies I dont know how Icmeler manages to not have any but its a massive plus.
But the owner is a control freak, and I do not expect to not be allowed to hang washing on a maiden that i had placed directly under my window which wasnt a saftey hazard. Plus with only 1 maiden between 5 apts it wasn't always reasonable to use it, so i used my brains and used coat hangers and hung things off the door and placed swimming towels over our outside table to dry. Which most likely looked more of a mess but what can you do and we bought them in as soon as they were dry which is about 2 hours in that heat lol!
I have voted with my feet this year and am going to different apts in Icmeler where the owner appears to be lovely.

Hi Rami thankyou for your reply, that has put our minds at rest

From the pictures we had seen you could not see any table and chairs outside. Can now tell hubby he can have his Efes sitting outside

Hey bev.....thanks for your honest post earlier. We asked the question and you answered it from your own experience. Sorry to hear you had a couple of hitches during your stay and its a shame you wont be returning. I'm sure we'll enjoy our stay there and I hope you enjoy your Holiday.

hi
I also stayed at the captain silver last year.
The grounds are lovely , the apartments are well kept but the owner does have an 'aura' about her.
Her reputation amongst local bars/resturants is second to none - I think she may suffer OCD as she will walk round straightening up out of line sunbeds and aligning ashtrays on tables.
That said , she has a beautiful set of apartments , you will be hard pressed to fond better , but I think she would have more returning guests if she lightened up a bit!!!!
Bev , where are you staying this year?

It's things like this that may well make me chuckle whilst we're there in August!

Hi Cheriton.
I'm sure you'll have a good time whatever happens because your on hols and not at work so anything is a bonus.
I still enjoyed the holiday. It was amusing in a strange sort of way to see her ordering the poor cleaners about. she can come and organise my house and kids, to stop them leaving 8 pairs of shoes in the hallway lol!
Efes Shareholder you hit the nail on the head its an OCD thing. agree completely about the sunbed movement and you didnt know whether you could sit on the white wicker furniture because it didnt have private keep off on it or anything. Yes we had a few discussions with shopkeepers who always ask where are you staying etc, then when we said Captain Silver they always asked what do you think of her etc etc.
Madness Tiger, you will see some funny things. the staff seem to visibily relax when she's not there, you'll see the Merc park under the car port thing unless she's changed her car this year.
we're going to Dermicioglu (however you spell it) We've eaten there loads of times over the years but thought we'd try staying there. In full knowledge that its much smaller grounds, allbeit a smaller pool but quite central etc so not far to walk to get anywhere.
