I'm sulking

I'm fed up..why?

well for the last two years i have been to Icmeler and i really really love it .

This year my parents who i dont get on with have booked a holiday to Gran Canaria for all of us my wife my daughter my mother and father ..i should be really really grateful..I am very lucky i know to have parents that are doing this ..But they seriously are a real pain ..they normally go on holiday in north Wales in winter as mother doesn't really like the sun.

They have never been on a holiday abroad and my mother is really nasty to everyone.. she calls over weight people (which includes me) and well everyone else with snide hurtful remarks, she doesn't like to drink and dislikes people who do. She will have ago at everyone at the pool side and what i and my wife look like in our costumes etc.

The only reason they are going is my Dad for once has stood up for him self and said he wants to swim in a warm ocean before he dies(cheerful thought considering he is fit as a fiddle for his age but after all the years living with mother he really does deserve it

My mother hates any food that is healthy or foreign and can't even stand the smell of any curry and wont eat even a Korma . where as we go on holiday normally to experience and embrace the local culture and cuisine.

The place they have booked is all inclusive i am sure we will like it but they will hate it! Mother hates cheesy holiday camp style entertainers and that's what they have.she will be spitting venom all night , i can see it now.

As i can only afford the spending money for one holiday a year and want to give my dad his wish i am stuck with this holiday from hell!!!

Each day i sit at my computer and look at the webcab and wish i was going to Icmeler this year with just my wife and daughter.

NOTHING will stop me next year Nothing!!!

I don't know your financial situation, but if you going all inclusive you wont need alot of spnds if you just stay in the hotel, and if your parents are paying maybe you might be able to afford icmeler later in the year, it's allways very cheap towards the end of the season.

If you do decide to join us in Icmeler this summer then please-just you and the wife! Its a horrible situation but I am sure your father would rather you had a good holiday and enjoyed yourself because life is too short. I am sure your father would give you his blessing to go elsewhere...?

Well my parents needs us to travel as they don't have a clue about what to do at check in etc . My dad wants to go on a submarine trip which will cost a few quid (with euros being so close to £ and trips being so expensive compared to the brilliant low cost trips in Icmeler) and i want to try a proper restaurant and at Euro prices this ain't gonna be cheap.

I will see if i can scrape enough together to go at the end of the season to Icmeler.

I know this sounds absolutely terrible but my parents live in the same house but have slept in separate rooms for the last 30 years , my dad eats healthy and has an open attitude my mother is the complete opposite gets stressed has had heart attacks but still smokes like a chimney and eats all the wrong stuff.
My dad is a man of principle and when he said his wedding vows he meant them he doesn't believe in divorce but just carries on silently.
I sometimes think he is waiting for my mother to pass away so he can be free. He really needs this holiday and he loves our company as we chat normally with him and he comes to life so to speak when we go around..I feel bullied into going on this holiday and am sick that its not to Icmeler but i will go for my dad.

Hopefully you wont have to spend too much and be able to come to Icmeler later in the year, maybe get a late deal.

Just remember you can always go off and have a walk or something. You don't have to follow them round.

I dont like my mum and dad in law so I'd be suffering the same as you.

My friend at work is in the same boat, Bf's parents picked the holiday (some remote island in Greece) and she's not looking forward to it either.

Enquirer, You seem to be airing a lot of your family laundry in public - i'd keep it to myself, bite my tongue and go and enjoy the free holiday. You never know - you might even enjoy it.

If you don't spend too much you might be able to afford a cheap icmeler holiday at the end of the season.
