Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

One of the things we like to do if they do it is have the Mezes,it gives you a better idea of all the local dishes had it a few times but not in Turkey would love to know if they do it in any of the restaurants in Icmeler.

Most of the restaurants will do them,and if they are not on the menu,just ask and they will do their very best to provide you with a Mezes which are delicious especially accompanied by their crusty bread

i would love to try them but as my husband only eats steak it would not be worth it

I have that problem too. My OH will only eat plain foods, no sauces, and so so fussy with his food. It limits me sometimes to where I can eat.

Shame we are not there together, we could share the mezes and leave the Husbands with their boring steaks

Last year i had mezes in the Lemon Tree but didn't try anywhere else, not had it before and i didn't like it hubby thought it was lovely!

Last year I had meze at Mr Chef. There was so many varieties it was far too much food. The good thing is that each item was different and the bread made the difference.

I love mezzes - i just love having bits of lots of different things with lovely fresh bread or pitta bread. Delicious!

The best mezzes I had last year were at Cafe Rosa - Rosa has a Turkish cuisine night on a Weds and Friday (you need to book before). She prepares and cooks all the food herself and it's delicious, in fact the mezzes alone will fill you up, there were so many dishes. You then get that followed by Chicken casserole (far nicer than you get in the main restaurants) and fresh fruit. Can't remember the exact price but it was as "cheap as chips"

better idea leave husbands at home we go mine is a nightmare wont try anything no just steak and chips its embarrising when i want to go for a italian i have to ask if they do steak and it has to be sirloin lynn

I am sure my Husband is your Husbands twin. We went to meet one of our Turkish friends family last year in Konya and his Mum had put on a delicious spread. There were various meats, salads, pasta, rice, breads, cheese, you name it, she had it and the only thing my Husband ate was 1 plum and some cheesy bread. I sampled everything. Wonderful hospitality.

must agree with mazz on this one, the mezes at cafe rose are brilliant and you get plenty of them.

hope you mean the same place mazz, but you're calling it cafe rosa so maybe it's different anyway, cafe rose does nice mezes and at very good prices

they are a nightmare i was suprised last year when they bring the bread out before the meal he loved it but next night it had cheese on would not touch it feel like killing him at times that meal sounded lovely well you enjoyed it lynn

Last year in Bodrum we had a starter of aubergines in a yoghurt type sauce. Anyone know what this would be called and if we can get it in Icmeler. The aubergines were so sweet....mmmmm....mouth drooling now.

Also we had i think vine leaves wrapped in something again any ideas what they would be called? I love to try something different every year.

Try The Jasmin, opposite the Private Hotel, near the canal. It's been taken over by the original owner and has a traditional turkish menu, aswell as english favourites, the chef was brilliant, mezes were complimentary, and would do bigger versions if you wanted them, and the staff were so lovely. They saved our cake from a birthday celebration for the next day for us as we were too full to eat on the night they offered us a piece. It doesn't look posh, but its now such a friendly cosy place, and very clean. Everything I ate there was as good as the more expensive restaurants. The grilled meatballs were my favourite.

If you like banana split, say to Gem you've heard he's the best in Icmeler at making banan split from guests in May, he was so thrilled when we complimented him on how nice they were.

Is it next door to the Irish bar that used to be pulse8?

Have a look at my photos my mrs has made Turkish Bread meatballs salad rice fries and even the dips.

Skilly, yes it's the one next to irish bar that was pulse 8, (that name always made me giggle ) It's really nice and friendly, as are most places, but this does feel homely somehow. They really do cater for every needs, breakfasts ,lunches and evening meals were superb. We were in there late one night and a couple asked if they did kebabs, the chef started making them especially for them.

Hey Tonytigwall, shame your recipe for meatballs has disappeared, fancy making them myself. I thought I'd seen a thread with turkish recipes on here but can't seem to find it.
