A few years ago (2002 I think) we managed to book an excursion through the hotel we were staying at. It was called an Eco-safari. We were collected in a jeep, by an english girl, who was our driver for the day, and she took us all through the countryside, explaining about the flora and fauna of the area.
We stopped somewhere and walked to a place in the mountains, where a guy (a bit like an aging hippy, for those of you who are old enough to remember what they were LOL!) who had built a tree house, where he lived with a couple of women and a few children. He was supposed to be a "witch doctor" and some of the party consulted with various aches and pains etc. We then left, after having tea with him, and walked down the mountain side to a village (the name escapes me, could be Bayeur???but it's the one with the huge tree, reported to be several thousand years old).
Anyway, we have been looking for that trip again, but have only come across the usual jeep safaris.......Does anyone know of this Eco-Tour and whether it is still being done?
