goldtrail flights

Postby andyr » 17 Apr 2008 12:32

I have just checked that my flight with Goldtrail on the 12th Aug from Leeds was still OK, only to be told that they had cancelled it! I asked what would have happened if I hadn't checked with them, they said they would have informed me eventually. Fortunately they have managed to transfer me on to a flight the day earlier, but as I had booked accommodation through ICR I have also had to change my dates with them which they seem to have done OK. The maddening thing is that I rang Goldtrail a few weeks ago and the girl then told me that the flight was definitely OK for the 12th. So beware if you have a flight booking with Goldtrail.

Yes same to a lot of bookings with them it seems.

Maybe someone in the office who makes the flight list up had fat fingers and hits the wrong key.

Flights from Liverpool now cancelled 2nd 9th and 16th may but will change you to Manchester if you like

I was very lucky, I flew with them 3 times last year to Dalaman, and the only change I had was the flight changed to 1 hour later.

They seem to do this a lot.

goldtrail flights

Postby fatblokecaver » 17 Apr 2008 18:48

We have flown only once with Goldtrail and will never fly with them again I'm afraid.
We had paid more (about £50 each £200) for a day flight only for them to alter the flight to the red eye 2 weeks before we flew - so no refund or if we cancelled we would have lost over £1600!!!!!!
Not too bad for us we only live 1 1/2 hours from Gatwick but for an Irish couple who had flown in, they had to wait for 8 hours in the terminal on the way out and nearly 12 hours on the way back.
Goldtrail will advertise good timed flights on the web with cheap prices but don't be suprised if you are on the red eye flight outward and back home.

flight changes

Postby Jozzyd » 17 Apr 2008 18:56

We didn't book with Goldtrail but an independent Travel agent fully ABTA> ATOL etc. would this make any difference. Didnt even know Goldtrail were involved til we got confirmation yesterday and and it's their invoice.

I've heard alot of bad things about gold trail.

My friend flew with them last year and she had trouble.

I don't actually think they are that cheap either.

JOZZYD -you should be alright if there is a flight number showing, when I booked the Tuesday flight they advertised, the flight number just showed as TBA.

We have just booked flights with the above company for Birmingham-Dalaman August 22nd and whilst its a little worrying about the potential for changes or delays what has really scared us is the reports of safety issues with Onur Air we have read since booking.
I really hope we are just over reacting but at the moment we are wishing we had chosen another airline :(

what has really scared us is the reports of safety issues with Onur Air we have read since booking.

If they were unsafe the CAA would not let them fly in or out of the UK. There were grounding issues reported in the Netherlands but I believe it was all political.

Just never fly with an airline contained in the banned list

http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air-ban/pdf/list_en.pdf

I fly a lot (Most weeks) and I have booked with Onur for this year and don't have any worries about flying with them. Most newspapers over exaggerate events and passengers panic because they don't know what's happening, the pilots are professionals and also want to see their families at the end of the day so wouldn't take off if it wasn't safe to do so.

I've flown with Onur lots of times and they've always been fine.

In fact, now I don't know whether this is just a coincidence, but on most Onur flights we've taken off slightly earlier than expected.

The food can be rubbish, but that's not a problem - just go prepared!

Onur

Postby Jozzyd » 18 Apr 2008 20:04

I am not good flying, not afraid of flying but claustrophobic, we ended up sat on the fold down seats at the rear of the plane that the hostesses are supposed to use temporarily! We never got moved either. I rested my head on a book for 4 and a half hours. All that said we are flying with them this time and there is no way my children will sit on those seats. Me and hubby might though

goldtrail flights

Postby fatblokecaver » 19 Apr 2008 16:26

I have no problem with flying with Onur Air I just will not book anything with gold trail.
We have flown with Onur a few times and have found them very good - soft drinks free (until they run out) every drink was (at the time) £1 until they ran out. The kids were given activity packs. There was no movie but the flight was good.

Used Goldrail last year and had no problems but wouldn't fly with Onur Air again as there is no infilght entertainment but the drinks were free when you can get them. When we landed back at Manchester I drank two bottles of fanta because I was so dehydrated!! So if your flying with Onur take your own drinks on board as they only came round twice in the four hour flight!
