Icmeler in 2008 - Whats changed since 2006?

Postby sophia » 05 Apr 2008 19:36

Hey

Hoping to go to Icmeler this year! :D This will be my fifth time in Icmeler but unforutnately didn't get to go out there last year!

Can any one tell me what has changed since Summer 2006? Have any bars closed down or 'must visit' ones opened?

Also what is the first/second week like of May in Icmeler - have only been at the end.

Thanks in advance

You will certainly see some changes along the beach and waterfront to the right of the bay, Sophia.

They were building new shops, cafes last year, although I'm not sure whether they will all be up and running for 2008?

Yes, you'll certainly notice some changes, mainly along the beach and of course the new jetty which is (by the looks of recent pictures posted) pretty much finished.

It's still the same Icmeler that we all love though - still as friendly and welcoming as ever!

Early May can be a little mixed, I went out on 12th May last year and had 1 full day of sun and the rest was cloudy with sunny spells  though I gather it got better when we left!! It can get a little chilly in the night but it really depends where you are and which way the wind is blowing(!) just be prepared and either buy a pashmina when you get there or take a cardigan. Oh and the sea will be blimmin cold!!!

I'm going a week later this May so fingers crossed it'll be blue skies and high temps all the way (I'm already doing my sun dance!) 8) 8)

You're very brave then, the sea is always far too cold for me, but then I do like it like a tepid bath - which it always is by the time I get over there again for my main fortnight holiday at the end August/start September!

Meant to say in my earlier post that I went the same week in May in 2006 and the weather was fantastic.

Although I love Icmeler at any time of year, I do prefer May, it's at it's lovliest then!

Does anyone know if Amir and Gail are still running the Chill Bar this year or has it been sold now?

NeilandMike

We went last year for two weeks on the 20th July, the hottest day was 46C but I would say most days were very high 30's
