20kgs for 4 weeks

Postby phillil » 01 Apr 2008 19:35

Hi everyone. Here is a question I keep asking myself. How am I going to manage to carry only 20 kgs for a four week holiday. My problem is I usually take my full allowance for two weeks. Help, Help, Help. Any advice is most welcome. I know there are laundrette services but the thought of reducing my wardrobe is killing me :!:

baggage

unfortunately I have seen so many people hit with extra baggage costs, at various airports. Lucky if you have the smile and the right person on check in. I hope and hope again that you manage more than 15 kg. My problem seems so small compared to yours.

I would imagine pre-booking extra allowance will normally be cheaper than turning up and getting caught, have you tried contacting the airline and asking to purchase an extra allowance.

Another option is with Parcelforce, 20Kg to Turkey is £85 which works out at £4.25 a kilo and take four days.

And you think he will not check this site ???????????
Of course new things will be bought. And that adds to the problem. Yes the return journey. Ahhhh Dalaman airport......don't they weigh everything. Just love the shops in Icmeler and Marmaris and hoping to do Rhodes this year. Can you imagine the weight of my suitcase..... I feel it groaning already

I have 15kg - forever!!!!! And a baby to pack for too!!

You can ring the airline and book more baggage, its cheaper than paying on the day. The launderette services will be more than adequate though and remember if you take loads then you cant bring anything back!

I know what you mean, I'm normally over my limit for a fortnight's holiday!

I can only suggest you use a laundrette (one that does the ironing too) - but I don't have any suggestions as to how you can avoid excess baggage charges at Dalaman, they're really strict  though you could always try chatting up the check-in person :?

When i go to Icmeler with my wife my case is only half full but my wife's one is normally near the limit. On getting there i will go to the market and buy 12 pairs of cheap boxer shorts and socks and a few cheap t shirts. These items are only worn once then binned. This leaves space for bringing the goodies back. You are also allowed 5KGS hand luggage so make full use of that.RON

If your flying with Thomas Cook and want extra 5kgs luggage its £7.50 when you book your flight but if you don't do that you need to give them a ring at least 3 days before your flight.

I was 6 over going, was planning on being there for the season so wasn't to bothered but now i am back in UK and had to pay for the 6 coming home too.Dalaman are getting quite strict on it,there was 2 girls in front of me and they was over 7kilos between them and they was charged too.I was let off a kilo because they didn't have any change! :P

I never seem to get that problem of being overweight with my luggage.
Being a shrewd traveller I book with Agean that means I get 20kg allowance for each person.
As you all know we fly in two days to Icmeler and our cases are creeping over the limit, but I have made a few adjustments to the packing.

Out goes a few frocks and tops along with several pair of shoes with a couple of pair of trousers
make up is not needed as I
intend to "get back to nature" the hair dryer will be obsolete because the sun will be shining and hair will dry naturaly.
I would like to mention that Ann agreed with all these omisions and I being the martyre I am agreed to leave out my favourite pair of shorts.

Mission achieved we are now on target and the cases will not be subject to a charge.

I just love an Happy Ending.
