Hi Womble.

Ciggies defiantely from Dalaman, I used to smoke Lambert & Butler before I kind of gave up..lol They were about £12-£13 for 200. You can get a turkish brand for about £7 for 200.

Perfumes & aftershaves I didn't find that much difference in PRICE FROM uk duty free. Some things slightly cheaper.

Booze depends what you dirnk if it's branded stuff I would say UK, lasty year when I was in the airport they were doing 2 bottles for £16 of most brands.

Hope this helps.

Hi Womble
Definately get cigarettes when you arrive at Dalaman they are about £14 for 200, you will need to give them your passport when buying any duty free at Dalaman. Not sure on Perfume but I'd get alcohol at Dalaman also.
Hope you have a great time!!

hi womble,

you have also got to remeber, you can take as many fags into turkey that you want, but you are only allowed 200 coming back into this country, that is if you abide by the rules

Definitely either get cigs on board the aircraft or when you land at Dalaman.

I'm pretty sure there is a restriction on the amount of ciggies you can take into Turkey and it's something like 600.

And yes, no matter what they tell you in the duty free shops when you're leaving Dalaman the limit is 200 to bring back to the UK

Last time I passed through Dalaman a chap was telling everyone his girlfriend worked at Mancheter airport and the amount you could take into the UK had officially been increased to 1,000 - absolutely not the case!

I usually buy spirits at the UK airport - there are normally good deals to be had, depending what your tipple is.

Perfumes - probably a bigger choice at your UK airport, and again, quite often some good deals.

Gold jewellery - wait until you get to Icmeler. I can recommend the Sultan Jewellers, situated under the Prince Apartments in the centre of resort.

So jealous you're going in just hours... of course we will all be expecting a full report on your holiday.

Have a fabulous time - and if you need someone to carry your bags I'm available (it'll just cost you the price of an airline ticket!! )

Dont know about duty free but but the prices in the departure lounge for food and drink when returning home are extortionate. Theres several threads about this on here.

Duty free

Postby madmackem » 29 Mar 2008 23:13

The other half is the smoker and she always buys her ciggies at Newcastle airport, last year she paid £70 for 1000 Regal Kingsize> They do explain when you buy them that the limit to take to Turkey is 300 each but we have never been challenged yet at Dalaman, and the booze was a fantastic price last year 2 litre bottles of Baileys and 2 litre bottles of Bacardi for £32 the lot. Hope the offers are as good this year.
9 weeks and counting :D

The reason for this is because there are not enough international flights to warrant them opening the duty free yet.

Next month they will all be open

Cigs are pretty cheap in the resort, but no English brands, despite what they tell you, if you are offered them (it will always be from under the counter) they are fakes

Robert there are English brands now on sale in the resort.

Mustafa has them at his shop and are now legally sold in Turkey and are bonded so not fake

Do you know what sort of prices they're charging in shops?

Just curious, as it may pay to wait until I get to Icmeler (I do prefer to spend my money in Icmeler!). Also do you know if it's a wide range of English brands they're selling?

Cheers
