Whilst people watching in one of the bars last year, we were aware of a guy coming in, speaking to one of the barmen, and then money being passed to him. Anyone know if there are protection rackets going on in the town or possibly this may have been something innocent )

your always get rackets going on anywhere theres bars and resteraunts,so no problem,theres mafia everywhere in all countries,they own all the hotels and bars probaley.plus they keep people in check,there main objective is keep the tourist happy.money money money

Hehe i love people watching i always ask for a road view for that purpose too haha!!

But i have seen this alot too..sometimes its been for the people who own the land that the Restaurant/Bar is on...and sometimes just been for betting (all innocent)

lol my dad has always said theres a Turkish Mafia and I never beleived him until I saw the same man go into several bars and shops collecting money!!

It's rent and betting, there is a Turkish Mafia, but it's bigger in London than Turkey

Oh, so it wasn't just my imagination running riot then!

I know it may be a bit off he subject but has anyone ever noticed the brand new BMW's that seem to 'hang out' and always park near to the Olive Tree by the ATM's. There are usually about 3 or 4 and they must be brand new cars. I wish that I could afford one of the alloy wheels off those things

I was in a bar and a woman came to me and demanded my money.But she has been doing it ever since we have ben married so nothing new there then.
