Mustafa's shop is always mentioned when exchange rates are mentioned and he does always seem to offer the best rate.

I personally never use the official exchange places

Hi everyone we had a really bad experience last April with the exchange place on the corner under the webcam. What a horrible man  , he has signs to say no commission, what he doesn't tell you is that is only for cash exchanges, if you change travellers cheques he hammers you for commission. We mentioned it to are Rep and she said he is well known for this and apologised for not warning us in advance. Suffice to say we will be avoiding him again this year. Always found good rates in the smaller supermarkets and jewellers.
9 WEEKS TO HEAVEN :D

You will prob find most placces will charge you commission, it;s to cover there admin fees involved with american express, or other travellers cheque issuers. Best to exchange cash.

Might try half and half this year. I was told by a friend that works in an exchange place over here that most places will charge commision. Must be wrong.

It just shows how we all can experience different things in bars restaurents or supermarkets.
I think the shopkeeper (supermarket) at the side of the chill bar and under the ICR offices is a first class guy,his prices are good and I think his exchange rate is one of the best in Icmeler and I myselfe have never experienced any problems changing money there, thats not to say that madmackem did not have problems, just that I have only exchanged sterling and not Travelers cheques in there.

The rate for the YTL has been steady at 245YTL to the £ for the last week
but this morning is trading at 251YTL to the £.

I just hope that when I am over there in 8 Days its trading at 5YTL to the £.
Greedy or what?

Gene

Me too found this to be a good place last year to change sterling and cheques and was never given anything less than the rate stated which was indeed a better rate than the change offices

Exchange rate was 2.42 in town today when I checked on my lunch break. Everyone seemed to have the same rate.
