Just been reading and found out that the government have given permission to dig 12 bore holes in and around Marmaris to mine for manganese, if mining is to start this will be the end of tourism as we know it

No government in its right mind would allow this to happen, not only would they lose millions of pounds from tourism, but the impact on the area a lot of which are nature reserves would be catastrophic.

The figures don`t add up,how much the mining would make x amount of millions, tourism at least 1.5 billion. So if thats the case do you think some grease has been applied to some palms? Why are the eco lobby not up in arms this is an area of outstanding natural beauty.do`es anyone know how we in this country can make our feelings known? I`m sure I`m not alone at the thought of all this mining and the pollution it will create spoiling the tranquillity of Icmeler and it`s surroundings.
