hi can any one tell me the location of the market , staying near the kurt apts 1st time to icmeler so dont know were anything is but will try to find the location in icr map,
plus do you think the talk of the town show suitable for my 5 year old daughter she loves panto and musicals and make up what do you think

you are so near the market,you could touch it,actualy its just around the corner from the kurt apts,very handy if you want to take some shopping back then start again,market is on every wednesday.good luck.talk of the town show is fantastic,great for all ages,

You'll love it an so will your daughter
We stay just behind the Kurt and like Denis says ,you're ideally placed for the market
come up the steps to the road and it's a couple of mins walk
best to go at 16.00 or just after for the best bargains or early on if you want to avoid the crowds - and take plenty of water cos it gets hot in there

you can get some excellent bargains in the shops, so don't rely on the
market thinking you will get a better deal.

yeah should be fine Jayne....cant remember hearing any bad language. can be a bit risque, but probably nothing to worry about for a 5 year old. There were lots of young children when we went. I'm sure she will love some of the sketches (little mermaid) for one. I posted pictures on the other board if you are interested.

I'm not a fan of the market, I have had abusive comments shouted at me simply because I have ignored them when they have asked me to buy something, but unfortuanately it's the only way sometimes.

Unless you've got a burning desire to go to the market, you could quite easily give it a miss and get better quality stuff from the shops at the same sort of prices
Or you could visit the underground market in the evenings - anyone will tell you where it is in the centre of Icmeler


There's a drag show in Icmeler itself if you fancy rather than Talk of the Town (or as well as) or the one that Steve's posted about in Marmaris (Baccus??). Bits of it are a bit risquee, but at 5 most of it will prob go over your daughter's head?

I agree with Fanny, I don't go tot he market anymore, can't stand the rudeness of people, Germans, Turks, British. Pushing and shoving and sweating like a p i g

Same here Buy most of my things locally, much nicer and better service. Have also got some good bargains in the underground market. The market is pretty much a free for all and a lot more hassle from the traders.

I'm afraid I would avoid the Icmeler market at all costs. The abusive comments I heard directed at women last year left me disgusted. Obviously, the Turks using it could not translate the severity of the language being used or they would have been disgusted at themselves.
I hasten to add too that none of the women recieving the abuse had a man with them.
As for taking a child to it!
And yet, go to the smaller (and more authentic) market at Turunc, and you will have a great day out without the hassel.

I agree with you steve. I find the market really hard work, it's like buying a car in this country they hassle you as soon as they see you showing an interest. Walk away and they shout things at you.

Yes the market has really gone down hill in recent years. At one time the the market used to sell really well made things(apart from the watches) more often than not the fakes were better made than the real thing, nowadays most of the stuff on the market isn't worth buying, in october the T shirts were 10 for £10 but they were very poor quality, I'd sooner pay a bit more in the shops for a better quality item.

I used to go every year but haven't bothered the last few times, mainly because of the heat and the hassle.I'd rather shop in the evening when it's cooler and find you can get the same stuff in the shops anyway.
