Hey guys, we are off for our 1st time in oct and i know this has been posted before but what should we look out for cost wise, general things as drinks, steak, chicken meal, soft drinks etc, what would you consider average and where would you draw the line, we are self catering so are supermarkets reasonable, we have usualy stayed in
Greece so how would the prices differ to give me some idea. Thanx for all your help Steve.

costwise, everything is much cheaper than england. The prices have risen in the last couple of years quite a lot, but it is still cheaper than here. The meals are exceptional wherever you eat. Just dont pay the prices what they ask in the shops and on the markets. Halve their prices (they expect it). Depending on where you go, you can get a good old english breakfast for between 80p and £1.50. Evening meals are excellent value, 2 of you can have a loveley steak meal with wine for about a tenner. Drinks vary. Its much more expensive near the front and the canal, so you just have to suss it out. Their bottles beer (EFES) is loveley, and you can get it for as little as 40p a bottle. If you want to go shopping in a supermarket, you are better using the main one (TANSAS), as the small ones are more expensive. Enjoy yourselves

Of course you can eat restaurant meals cheap. You can have a set meal with wine included. Or you can have something like....chicken in a sauce for about £3.50 - £4.00). Chicken is obviously cheaper than steak etc but is excellent value. The pitta bread and small meze is a free starter. We avoid the canal and the seafront because they are greedy with their prices. but we eat in many places. we have been going there for 7 years so we know many places. We ate a lot in the Welcome the last time we went. We used to eat in the Blue Fox but it has gone now. The titanic is good too and the Baron

Hi Debi. There are many places with good prices, they are just not on the main Roads or near to the Canal and sea front. The Welcome is good food and good prices ( opposite babadan apts ) . There must be loads that we never even saw or tried. Another one of our favourites is the majestic (opposite Harrys). The food in there is good and average price. We tried the Maldolin Reastaurant and the food in there is exceptional, especially the chicken plank, but the prices are high. But its worth it for a lovely meal when u are feeling very hungry. Happy hunting

Got back about 3 weeks ago and though it's gone up, we've booked 3 weeks for next year and I'm off with 16 year old daughter in 2 weeks for 7 days so it can't be that bad can it
We were paying about 3.50/4 YTL for large Efes at night - about £1.50/£2.00. Our dearest night out from 8.30 - 2.30 am for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 9 year old came in at £56.00 for food AND drink - not bad I think. Most places will do half size portions for kids if you ask.
We went through just under £900 pw spending money for the 5 of us - again I think that's reasonable and you could cut it down further by buying drinks from Tansas to take to the beach, but we're too lazy

I agree, the food may not be as cheap as it used to be, but I would pay double the prices for what you get, good service, excellent food, good company and lovely people, and great weather!!! this topic is getting boring now, how many times do we have to read about prices etc, etc!!
time to let it drop!!

I agree with guest, i go to
Icmeler not because its " cheap " its because the place itself is beautiful, the people go out of their way to please you and are so friendly the weather is fantastic. So i don't mind what it costs so long as i have a good holiday, i save all year round to make sure i take enough money in case theres an increase in prices.

I have found this topic very helpful, not everyone as been before?. We needed some scope on the issue and there has been a wide range of advice, so please keep them coming, if i wanted cheap i would be going to Poland.

Just got back last night, and I can honestly say that, except for about an annual 15% price rise on the food, its not gone up at all.The food is exceptional quality, always well cooked and piping hot also. The spirits have gone up,but you are on holiday for goodness sake,we had cocktails and spirits every night,we felt we deserved them after a long hard year grafting to pay for our holiday. At the end of the day, true Turkey lovers don't go there cos its cheap,we go because we love the country and the people in it.As sharkman said,if we wanted cheap,we'd go to Poland or the like.

I agree there was a slight increase in prices but nothing major that we noticed

I agree - Imeler's the place - the price is irrelevant.
Prices weren't that bad - you expect an increase - prices rise all the time at home.
I'll still be there as usual for my 4 visits next year.
