a cautionary tale

Postby MUSTAPHABUN » 25 Oct 2007 19:16

this is just a few words of caution to anyone thinking of changing from icmeler.over the years we have been to other parts of turkey.so when a deal came up for marmaris we took it.after a delayed flight we arrived at our hotel/lookout post.it was at the top of a hill so high that goats and condors were the only animals on view.we will make the best of it i thought the walk /absail down to the dolmus was manageable the bus into town was pleasant and a walk round the bazar and harbour was nice.then we went to icmeler.the realisation just hits you, why did we go anywhere else. we love it here, friends waving and they are genuinely pleased to see you again.our beach spot with reserved sunbeds at the waters edge. a leisurely lunch in the cafe del mar with views to die for.a dolmus back to armutalan.a trek up the mountain after stopping to pick up bearers.two days we lasted and then we booked into the mandalin and all was right with the world again.
ps:the mandalin is a very nice family run hotel, spotless with free air con and a lovely turkish breakfast. we are looking to book it for next year.

I understand exactly - we did the same last year, only we wandered to Hisaronu. Moved to Icmeler after 3 days - we won't stray again

Ah well you live and learn. The first time we went to Turkey we had a choice of Marmaris or Icmeler and we're so glad we picked Icmeler because we'd never have gone back otherwise.

A lesson learnt then David

I think thats why we dont try other resorts,
We have been to about half a dozen other places in Turkey but can never seem to improve on Icmeler.
Went to Spain a couple of years back at Easter,
It was nice, weather was ok,
but we always had it at the back of our minds,

"I wish We were in Icmeler"
