Holiday Review part 2

Postby elkie » 02 Oct 2007 16:24

Hi everyone
Just returned from our second holiday of the year to Icmeler, can't believe it's all over for another year.
Got a really good deal for Greenworld apartments, too good to pass up, and we'd been before so knew how beautiful it is up there. Everything still much the same as a couple of years ago, some new faces on the staff but that's about it.
Transfers through ICR, thanks guys, got us there and back in one piece, very fast but you come to expect that. I for one would gladly pay a little more and ask them to go a bit slower, hubby thinks I'm mad.
Went looking for the legend that is Gene in the Havana one night but left before he showed, sorry we missed you Gene, but glad we met Sharon and John and their crew, lovely people, only sorry we didn't get back there. Saw you all in Linnekers one night but as I'm a shy and retiring person (???!!!) didn't come over. Think someone was going home and I felt as though we'd be interrupting your last night together, maybe next time eh?
Lazy day boat trip (twice) and on the second one we were lucky enough to see two dolphins, they were beautiful, everyone was going crazy!
Went on Jeep Safari, sorry ICR, we booked with someone we went with years ago and who we talk to all the time, BIG MISTAKE!! First off, the jeep was ready for the knackers yard, no seatbelts (and I know some have them, I've seen them). Then, after breakfast, we set off again only to get stopped by the traffic police! Thought it was a set up at first but they detained our jeep, something to do with the licence, and the other four in our convey sped off, nice guys or what!! Anyway, after about half an hour they let us go but the driver had to report back to them at 4.15. He wasn't too happy but neither were we! It didn't spoil the rest of the day and we did have a laugh but wouldn't book with them again. Won't name them but I'd advise anyone reading this who's going on any excursion to go through ICR, it's probably much safer.
The weather was much better than July, and no rain like we had last September.
Went up to Cinar again, always a lovely afternoon.
After that just chilled out round the pool, enjoying the amazing scenery. The view from our balcony was breathtaking. Never stayed anywhere that has a sea view so can't comment, must put it on my 'to do' list for next time cos some of the pics I've seen on the forum have been gorgeous.
I've gone on much too long so will shut up now. I'm missing the place so much but if I wasn't here at work now I couldn't go back there next year - positive thinking!

I agree - Greenworld is beautiful. just a shame it's so far but that comes with it's own benefits.

You mention the staff from a couple of years ago. Did you meet Mustafa, Ibor and Hassan -they were there in 05. Mustafa is now in USA, Ibor is in the army and Hassan was in Marmaris. They were really good at their job.

Holiday Review part 2

Hi Juneflo
Ah, Mustafa, he was the one who greeted us (wearing the famous cowboy hat, should've known he'd end up in the States!). We arrived late at night and he shouted 'welcome to paradise' and when we got up in the morning and looked out at the view I knew what he meant. Think it was way too quiet there for someone like him, he was wasted there, such a charmer.
Do you remember Tyson? I believe he went back home suffering from the big C, never heard how things went for him, hope he was ok. He always came round about 4pm ringing the bell and pushing his little trolley, shouting 'teatime, teatime'.
Can't really comment on the food, we only ever had brunch on the days we stayed up there but they did make us pizza when we arrived absolutely starving at 1 in the morning, can't fault them for that!
