Like you, Molly malone, we always have it at 18 degrees, but wake up cold in the night, end up switching it off, then half an hour later it goes back on again.
We found the best temp. at night is to set it about 20 degrees, and then if we chill off, pull up the cover for a while.
I think we get used to the heat after a few days of being there, and don't need it so much during the night.
