Hi Davie

I personally have never seen trips to Istanbul from Icmeler but I'm sure as everyone will probably agree, if you contact the ICR Office when you're there or call them before (which would give them more time) they could maybe advise what is available - I've never read a post that says they were unable to sort it for you !
Love to try it myself but would imagine it's quite a distance..

Havent done the trip from icmeler but i visited Istanbul for 5days last year.
Think its a must if your a turkey lover  ...and you think the roads are mad in Icmeler, you havent seen anything, took me about 20mins to cross the road haha!! In the end i had to be dragged across :?

Also the Grand Bazaar is here and it lives up to its name.
I couldnt get over how big it was,we went over the Bosphorous river to the asian side felt like it took ages hehe.

I agree with Bec, Istanbul is a fantastic place, and one any Turkey lover should visit at least once in their lifetime!

I'd love to go back and see what I didn't get to see during the week I was there in 2005, even though we crammed as much in as was physically possible.... aaah the Grand Bazaar, spice bazaar, Blue Mosque, Aghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the cruise down the Bospherous, Sultanahmet to name but a few of the major sites.... the sheer size of the buidlings... the mix of cultures, the mix of wealthy and poor.... it's quite something!

From Icmeler it's about a 14 hours bus trip, so I'd say it's better to fly up from Dalaman, I don't think domestic flights are that expensive.

Go for it... but you'd need a little more than a few days there! It's amazing!

Istanbul is a great place to visit,we can help you sort out your flight from dalaman whilst your here, flights run daily with turkish airlines and are very reasonably priced. When you need a help with accomodation we can even contact some hotels for you. Places to visit include Topkapi Palace, Dolnabache Palace all dating from the 15th century from the Ottaman Dynasty. Theres the blue mosque to visit, the Ataturk culture museum in taksim Square, and maybe do some shopping in the Beyoglu passages.

Were always willing to help you just contact us and we will see what we can arrange for you to ensure you have a happy holiday
