If you are with o2 then you shouldn't need to add anything, when I was in Corfu a couple of years ago my brother and his girlfriend were there at the same time and I just sent a text as normal. Also if you with o2 and even if phoning home you just phone as you normally would no need to add +44 (0044). However not sure about other networks.

My daughter's on 02 and she was fine. I'm vodafone and had to put +44 and drop the 0. Look on your provider's website, if there's nothing there call and ask. I know that Turkey isn't on vodafone's european list - that's the one that gives you cheaper calls - my bill was high. 02 had a better deal but I think my daughter set it up before going.

With o2 I did have a euro bolt on thing but think its all changed now, and when we phoned home last year I used my mobile and it was cheaper than buying a phone card, called my brother on his o2 mobile and saved a few quid - only found this out by accident couldn't be bothered going to buy a phone card last year so thought just this once use the mobile and after about 10mins cost about £3 which ain't bad from Turkey to UK. So have done that ever since, did it again in May there and again pretty reasonable even during the day.

Just checked my tarrif with 3 and they are now charging 20p a minute to call landlines in UK and free to receive a call in Turkey on your mobile.
