No hassle shopping

Postby weetoony » 05 Aug 2007 17:18

Can the members of the forum recommend any shops in Icmeler? When we were there last year mrs. weetoony missed being able to walk into a clothes or jewellery shop to browse as, after the first couple of times, she was totally peed off by the pressure to buy, not that my wallet complained.

There must be at least a shop or two where this is not prevalent, but where, and also for best value? Answers before 8th September would be very welcome.

I would recommend Metropol shop-the guys there are lovely and let you look around without hassling...good quality clothes too,a little dearer than other but you pay for quality hey! This is opposite Bella Mare hotel.
Also deja vu-has 2 shops next door to eachother, men & women.Lovely owner, been going there years now.Next door to Vinces under Dermicioglu aparts.

I'd definitely try the Metropole - ask for Tahir, if he's not there his brother will be. Tell them that they have been recommended and that you prefer just to look round and ask for help if you need it. In fact, try that in shops you go to - a firm statement might work. I usually say I'm just looking - and if I'm followed round the shop - I leave and let them know I felt uncomfortable.

The police are trying to crack down on hassle and shop owners will know that if they hassle you - they might get caught by police and closed down. If they hassle you inside, and you find it too much, you can report them to the police. To avoid all this, I'd try a firm statement.
