We have difficulty with travel ins. because of pre medical conditions. Last year it cost us £400 for an annual policy but this year the co. wouldn't insure us even though there was no change in conditions. Hubby has had by-pass surgery and pacemaker. We did however manage to get single trip from SAGA for £140. Anyone else had similar difficulties and solved them?

I've just purchased a really good travel insurance policy through travelsupermarket.com (as Jula suggested) and it cost a total of £13.50 for 2 people for 12 days. Can't see that price being beaten, not even £7 each.

I have also had diffiiculty in trying to obtain travel insurance. Went to tunisia in feburary, was insured then for my pre-existing conditions. Yet for my trip to icmeler in agust no-one will insure me, and nothing has changed since feb. Out of 19 companies that I called, only 1 would ensure me for single trip ....£470! Needless to say but I could not afford that...was costing more than my holiday! Have had to bite the bullet and just have basic cover. If anyone knows of a decent company that has covered arthritis, diabetes, and awaiting gall bladder operation, please let me know.

As a couple we both have pre-existing conditions and can never find a better deal than with Kwikfit! Yes the tyre people - they do all kinds of insurance. You can do most of it online and then get a quote and then ring medical clearance or whatever it is called and you quote the no. and then answer their questions and they will tell you there and then if you need to pay an additional premium

Hope this helps

I get mine automatically through my bank account. I know we all want to keep the costs down but please remember to look at the excess and other relevant details. In previous year's I've been caught out by going for the cheapest but it hasn't been in the long run. There were also loads of things that weren't covered - e.g. crutches, taxi fares to hospital, precautionary injections (old old medical condition), non rescribed medication. claim of £367 got me £10 back!
