No the smoking rooms won't still be there, you probably be able to smoke outside the airport but not when you get inside.

Bristol Airport has posted this message:

New smoking laws
(29/06/07)
Smokefree England

On 1st July 2007, virtually all enclosed public places in England will become smokefree. From this date on, smoking in these places will be a thing of the past - and against the law.

The new law is being introduced to protect employees and the public from the harmful effects of secondhand smoke. Failure to comply with the new law will be a criminal offence and result in a fine being imposed.

From 1st July 2007 Bristol International Airport will become completely smokefree, and there will no longer be any smoking areas within the terminal building.

An external smoking area will be provided outside the terminal building, but there will be no smoking areas after passengers have passed through the Security Search Comb. It is essential that passengers make their way through Security at least one hour prior to the departure of their flight.

At Manchester airport the smoking rooms have gone, also outside by T1 departures you cannot smoke as it is not 50% open to the outside due to being undercover, the only smoking area at T1 is now outside arrivals.

Dalaman Airport only pemit smoking in a room on the ground floor, opposite duty free shop, however all upstairs, smoking is allowed were all the fast food and cafe's are. Iam a smoker and think this appear's upside down. Surely smoking should be permitted ground floor only?

Regarding Manchester I guess 10 patches should get me to Dalaman Airport.

Unfortunately what most of you are saying is wrong about Dalaman airport!

You are allowed to smoke anywhere upstairs in the food area, in much the same way as the only place you could smoke in the old terminal was where everyone was eating! However I couldnt find any ashtrays!

There is also a smoke room with a glass wall on the same floor as the shops.

You cant smoke once you get into the incredibly small area known as your leaving gate, despite being shepherded in like cattle!

Hi Colette

It's about a 2 minute walk from check in, I will personally get the lift down by checkin desk 1, that takes you straight outside by where the staff buses drop off and pick up.

My intention will be to checkin 3 hours before but will stay landside until about 90 minutes before hand unless the security queues are long.

Will do a practice run next Monday when I fly to Athens with work, fly back on the 19th and then back to Turkey on holiday the following day, wife won't let me go straight to Dalaman from Greece and meet her there, she is insisting I come home and travel with her and the kids.

Thanks for that Dave, I will pass it on to Ma, I didn't see the problem with a smoking room, thought that was a good idea, esp if people are on long haul flights.

there is no drop off at depatures at the moment you have to go to a place where you get 15 minutes free, i wonder how far you have to walk to get to arrivals and also if you could have a ciggy on the way

I think I've read somewhere that the drop off point is in the car park opposite which is why you get 15 minutes free parking but I could be wrong!

I think I will be getting there 3 hours before & then going through about 90 mins before flight is due to board, I'm not sure how my other half will cope, I manage without one for 5 hours at a time every day at work but he can't cope for 15 minutes .....lol.

We probably won't be speaking by the time we land but then I'm taking him to a bar for a pint & a cigarette & making him sit inside so he can remember it when he gets back to the UK & can't smoke again
