another fantastic Icmeler holiday

Arrived back this morning and had to get online for another fix of icmeler.
Stayed at the Mitos apartments on the canal. Great location, warm and helpful staff and the best bar for just relaxing. Mitos bar is the one with the cushions - most people know that more than the name! No-one at the entrance hassling you to go in - no loud music, just a relaxing chilled out experience. Sardar and Antonio are great hosts.
Our room had a double bed - not good for mother and adult daughter but there was a comfortable sofa bed too. Hotel was full -aybe that's why we only had 1 change of towels and bed linen - though a spare was give to us at the beginning of the week. The pool is small but good if you have children, you're always near enough to them and to the sunbeds! It is aquite cramped and we couldn't get by the pool at all so used another one - no questions or hassle from the staff which was a nice change.
We used the pool at the Korsan bar next door. The hotel above is closed but the Korsan made us very welcome and didn't expect us to buy anything to use the pool. My daughter had a bout of sun strok and the staff were exceptionally caring, taking her to a shaded area and cooling her down with ice and a massage (I'll remember to get the sunstroke next year!).
We used the bar at Mitos for start and end of night drinks and had a wonderful couple of lunches there as well as a great barbecue night. Spent a good deal of tiime at the korsan because the staff didn't hassle people to go in. Great entertainment and a range that suits all tastes - professional turkish/greek dancers, waiters also danced - not the break dancing or hip-hop stuff - but traditional dancing that I hadn't seen before - the professional dancers trained them each day. Also saw the snake man who has a great bit white python but also walks on broken glass and swords.
Spent time at the Prince bar that is brilliant in every way - service, food, hosts and again a no hassle policy firmly in lace. Try this if you haven't already - the chef is magic!
Had to have my fix of the Geordie bar - a great place to just relax - no hassle again, free pool table and karaoke.
Occasional drinks/meals in U2 bar, Heat and Breeze, Dream Boys, Venice, Pop in, Chef's Restaurant and Majestic Boys and more I just can't remember now
For those of you going this week, Majestic Boys is closed for 7 days from Fri 6th July - I heard Dream Boys, 3 Bells, Majestic all have a closing this week but can't guarantee this is true. Also found one shop closed for 3 days.
The hassle policing is in place - it is though such a shame if you're favourite place is shut when you are there. Several people were concerned about that. I heard of a few places shut down because of the loud music so it's not just hassle. I did spend one evening when the music blasted out from one place I won't name from about 7 right up til 12 and it could be heard over the music of it's neighbour bars!
The market was like other years with the addition of some new designer fakes. I love to go to the market but get fed up looking at the same stuff every year. Still plenty of bargains to be found - it does seem though that the shops aren't stocking such a broad range. I also noticed that some market stall holders had been to the market and were selling on goods - for instance the 5 bags for a tenner in the market became 3 for a tenner in the shops.
Took the water taxi to Marmaris and went to the castle and got some great photos of the harbour. Found good evening trip with a company called Romance - boats are docked on the right hand side of Attaturk statue as you look at it - so the part that's towards icmeler not bar street. £3 for the trip with danding and food. I liked the chance to buy my own drinks - better choice and not the same local beers and spirits.
Hope this has given a good flavour of my week - yes only a week unfortunately!
