Reserving sunbeds

PostPosted: 05 Jul 2007 10:49

I have just come back from Icmeler and am amazed by the fact that people are allowed to reserve sunbeds,ON THE BEACH,for the length of their holiday !!!!Why is this allowed to happen? It's bad enough around an hotel pool but on the beach is just totally selfish and unjustifiable.

I do know of people reserving sunbeds on the edge of the sea.
But these same people pay for a fortnights rental of the sunbed so as this is guaranteed income the sunbed guys will oblige.
I have also known people to give a generouse tip for the privilige of being able to get beds on the waters edge.

Guilty?......who?....me?

i have to say i agree with Gene! i am one of the guilty ones who lets the lads know a week before i go that i will need my beds right at the water for the next 2 weeks and i love it!!!

Very disappointing to hear people reversing sun-beds for the whole of the week or two near the sea. Hope we find nice sun-beds near the front between 10th and 23rd August.

Gene see you row A3 A4 A5 A6 Ozman has sorted out already, tell know one

We reserve them a row in from the front and always have, this stops people walking by and picking up your bag and also occasionally i have seen a rogue wave engulf the front row.

You need to reserve i think, i cant be one of these that rolls on to the beach about 11am and then moans there is no decent sun beds!

We don't actually decide until we get up in the morning what we are doing, pool or beach so it wouldn't be practical to reseve ours. I wouldn't like to be commited to doing the same thing each day.

The secret is skilly to have two lots of towels.
Get up at 7am put a set of towels on the beds round the pool, go down to the beach at 11 am and use the beds on the front that you have given the beach boy a couple of bob to save for you.
At about 4pm after a two hour break for lunch at the Erdem return to your beds you have managed to get at the side of the pool.

You can stay here for another couple of hours then go up for a shower at about 6pm,that way you use all the hot water before all the other guests decide to go up to their rooms.

The above has no resemblence to how I act on holiday just observations I have noticed over years of holidaymaking.

Unfortunately it appears so Jules.I have travelled extensively and lived abroad and have never come across this before. Is it just a thing that only happens in Icmeler?I quite understand the beach being divided into sections and being looked after by particular people but I truly feel that hiring sunbeds on the beach is a step to far.

I can honestly say i have only lay on the beach about 5-6times in the 10years i've been haha!!
So no need to reserve for me...

What part of the beach does everyone go to??
If i do, i go to the side on the left hand side of the canal bridge.
Mehmet (tractor Mehmet) is this side...get them for free hehe..i should go more often!

Please dont worry about the lack of sunbeds on the beaches of Icmeler.
Their are far more beds than people.
You also have the public beach areas,
Areas that belong to the large Hotels and are private,
Stretches of beach that are free of cost and belong to the bars
You also have the beach boys with their little bit of beach who charge.

But as I say more beds than people.

if i go to the pool and there are no spare beds but loads have towels on , i just take the towels off 2 beds and sit on them . its just selfish .

I always prefer to be nearer the bar, as I visit this more than the water!
I dont really care where I'm plonked down at as long as its 'on the beach, and in Icmeler'

I came back on Saturday (7th). Couldn't get round hotel pool, had to go to the Korsan next door. It seems using other than the hotel pool is growing - either because there's not enough for all guests or because people are putting towels on to reserve them. This is really unfair and selfish. Must say this didn't happen at the Mitos - there were just several families so just not enough room round the pool.

Several people in the Mitos said they reserved beds on the front row of the beach - I was amazed at this even moreso when it's for every day of the holiday!

There are plenty of free suneds if you look for them. I went one day down to the beach - left at the new bridge and along to the last hotel (can't remember the name) and ha a lovely couple of hours.

Its a lovely bit of beach with plenty of palm trees for shade and those big scatter cushions around.

Dont usually have problems with beds at pool at Elif plenty of spare ones did have trouble when we stayed at Captain Silvers a couple of large families (English) went down very early each morning and reserved about 10 beds some of them for very small children, didnt bother me but I felt sorry for some other guests who were sat on chairs at poolside. I go to Denis Kapisi beach and dont actually reserve beds but they always save me one at the front, if its busy and they are all full they will move one from the back to near the sea for me.

A few years ago we stopped at the Prince Apartments.
If towels were left on sunbeds for more than 30 minutes anatended.
The lady from reception would go round and gather all these towels up and leave them at reception.

This I thought a good idea.
