Hi Louise,

we usually take a bit if Lira to see us through the first couple of days and the rest we take in English.
I always find you get a better rate in Icmeler than England.

Yep, like sanjo we alsways take about £100 worth of Lira for the first couple of days and the rest in English Sterling.

As said, the exchange rate is better over there...and for any scots, there are a number of places which will exchange scots notes but not at as good a rate! Just remember your english £10 notes for the visa at the airport though! ;)

£20 Notes

Postby scorpioto » 30 Jun 2007 09:27

Last time I went to turkey I took £100 in Lira, £500 IN £10 notes and my Debit Card, I was told they don't care much for £20 notes, anyone had experience with £20s. My brother in law just takes enough Lira for the 1st day and his credit card plus of course the £10 for visas.

Sterling travellers cheques are the best option, with some English money and enough Lira to see you through the first day.

Might be worth reading Andy's post about money being stolen from a safety deposit box.
