Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Been reading the posts for a long time but this is the first time I've joined in! Off to Icmeler in 22 sleeps and can't wait! This will be our 10th visit and have decided to go back to the Old Village this year, staying at Rhodes apartments, anybody been there yet this year? Any info would be appreciated but I'm sure we'll have a ball regardless!!

We just returned from 3 weeks at Rhodes Aparts,lovely spacious apartments with a large pool.Tango and his family will look after you very well.Its about a 15 min walk into the centre.You will enjoy these apartments.

Thanks Lynn, and thanks to Diane and Norman, how lucky were you to spend three weeks in Icmeler? How many apartments are there altogether at Rhodes? The pool does look enormous so hopefully we won't have a problem with sunbeds! My daugher and her fella are coming with us but staying at Kurt apartments. They've never been to Icmeler and I can't wait to see what she thinks, I know she's going to love it, just like we do. We plan to do the whole package - turkish bath, jeep safari, boat trip, mud baths, Cinar - and of course, plenty of liquid refreshment along the way, lovely cold Efes, bring it on!!

But not for me trying to walk home under a starry sky
But not for me the waking up to cockerels crowing every morning.
Oh the peace and quiet and the tranquility would send me round the bend

Give me the razz me tazz of the centre,the smell of hamburgers and chips , music bumping from the bars,
and how would I sleep without my roadsweeper going past my balcony every two minutes sweeping the road at 6-30 in the morning.

I will leave it to others to judge the best place to stay.

Elkie,16 apartments all with pool view.There are plenty of sunbeds to go round.Drinks and meals were very reasonable,we had an evening meal x2 and were not dissapointed.

Well Gene, I agree, each to his own, but honestly, don't care where I stay, old village or centre, everything's accessible, and plenty of watering holes to rest in now and then while we stroll around!
So pleased that Scott had a super time, I remember our first visit to Icmeler, many happy memories and still in touch with turkish friends we made that trip.
One person we did lose touch with is Teddy, used to work in Welcome, now Gunay restaurant. Does anyone know if he's still around?

The Rhodes apartments looked lovely! We stayed across the road at the Daystar and I am considering giving the Rhodes a try the next time we go over!

But pop over and say hi to Teddy and the guys at the Daystar when you go!

Its nice enough to be honest!

Quite basic but very clean and they do have hairdryers in the bathrooms! The apartment we were in was on the ground floor and was large enough for two of us for a week. The pool area is always clean, and the rooms were cleaned daily.

Teddy, Ozzie and the guys in the restaurant always made us feel welcome, and never caused us any hassle trying to make us stay there to eat unlike reports I had read before.

I've got to say that my week at the Daystar was my best turkish holiday yet after staying at the Sahin Palace and the Babadan Hotel(before its refurbishment).

I could only reccomend Club Daystar and would definitley go back!

Just viewed your pics, amazing! Those lush green mountains, what a sight! Good pic of the Rhodes apartments, now I know a little of what to expect, great view when sunbathing! Daystar looks good too, nice size pool with plenty of beds. Did you get sun most of the day, I know a lot of the pools lose the sun mid-afternoon. Great shots of the canal and around town too, that's a good camera you've got there!

I had a funny feeling we were away at the same time Gene! No doubt we passed each other somewhere in the town like ships in the night!

Elkie, glad you liked the pics! Its a Samsung NV3 that I bought just before going away that I used. A nice compact camera with loads of features and cheap enough for a decent compact camera. Its also coming down in price!

As for the sun, the side of the pool closest to the apartments faced the sun in the mornings but started going into the shade at about 2 or 3pm from memory. The opposite side gets the sun the whole day! Well...at the end of May they did anyway! The Rhodes pool looked great whenever we walked past!

Thanks for that Papa P. Will let you know what we think of Rhodes when we get back, just in case you're thinking of it for next time. Just got a new camera ourselves, hope our pics turn out as good as yours.
