Elif Hotel

Postby scorpioto » 05 Jun 2007 20:12

Hi everyone, first time I have posted although have been on site numerous times, the last time I was in Turkey we stayed in Marmaris, we had a great holiday, we hopped on the dolmus to pay Icmeler a visit as my brother in law never shuts up about it. I was surprised at how much quieter it was from Marmaris, to be honest we didn't see very much of it but it was very clean looked a nice place, We like a bit of entertainment of a night, nothing mad we are both 60 but can I say young 60s, my B.I.L. swears by the Elif, he has been 6 times maybe more, in fact he will be there next week with his wife. What I really want is more unbiased opinions of the hotel so if anyone can give me first hand info I will be eternaly grateful. Oh I forgot to mention I am hoping to be there some time in September.

Thanks Tony

H Alan thanks I will probaly be going after the 15th Sept as that is my sons birthday and we always seem to be away then, so this year my dear wife wants to be home, so it will most likely be the following weekend. Like I said the B.I.L. will be there next week then his wife is going back again in July with her mum and sisters so I get lots of info from him but he is so biased.

Cheers Tony

Thanks Ann, my wifes name is also Ann without the E, she is a Karaoke nut, my son has his own Karaoke and she loves them, I can take them or leave them, my B.I.L is also a Karaoke presenter, he likes to keep away from them on holiday but his wife still drags him along although he doesn't very often sing he leaves her to make a show of herself while he gets Brahms

Thanks for the info folks, I have just received a price for 10 days in September from Sharon at ICR, seems very reasonable, all I need to do now is get the wife to make sure she can get the time off work, fingers crossed.

Elif Hotel

Postby romanticandi » 06 Jun 2007 21:06

Hi Scorpioto

We stayed at the Elif last year, couldnt fault it, good staff, clean rooms (not huge - but hey who wants to hold a party) - comfy beds. The only thing I personally thought was missing, was a fridge to keep my aftersun and lippy cool, as well as the odd Efes or two, for hubby when we return from the beach.
Breakfast is at the Blue Rainbow, just through the grounds.

Hope you'll enjoy your stay!

romanticandi, thanks, I like a fridge in the room, better still a mini bar, so I take it the hotel doesn't do them, I will speak to my brother in law to have a word when he goes next week.

Elif Hotel

I suppose you could possibly ask if they could provide a fridge/mini bar - they do have them at the Blue Rainbow, which is the sister hotel to the Elif.

It's nice to have your drinks cold especially when it gets soooooo hot there. You will find the views over the bay amazing, especially at sunrise. Wish I was there now

Thanks Pauline, it looks like the wife can get the dates in September, so I just need do a bit of fine tuning and thats it, I will certainly be taking the ICR transfer, the normal transfer is a pain and that stop they make when you are almost there is very annoying.

Just got back from week at Elif it was out 7th time hotel just as people say basic but very clean and friendly staff, brekkie is now served in Elif you dont have to go next door for it. A couple of days we were late getting up and I told maid to leave us that day but they waited till later and still did our rooms, it says clean towels twice a week but we got every day. You will have a great time.

Hi,

I've just been reading your posts on the Elif - it's the best hotel in terms of location, friendliness and cleanliness and we've stopped there every year we have been to Icmeler. I saw a post on the holiday truth website that says the hotel is no longer the same. Apparantly it isn't twinned with the Blue Rainbow no more, there was no hot water and the bar staff were terrible!! We are used to the bar staff hassling a lot to eat there and sometimes we used to cut through the blue rainbow to avoid them but it was all part of the fun.

We can't go this year but are planning on going next year with some friends who have never been. I have been telling them how wonderful the hotel is and I would not go anywhere else but I am worried that it won't be the same and they will be disappointed. Is the hotel the same with the same high standards, the only difference being you can't use the Blue Rainbow facilities or eat brekkie there? Does the Elif still offer half board at the Blue Rainbow? I only ask that as last year we were upgraded for free due to a problem with our rooms when we arrived and the food was lovely. We didn't eat there all the time as we like to go to restaurants but it made a change and the service was quick!

Anyway, sorry for the long post - what I'm trying to say is is the Elif as good as always and I'll not look like I've been making it up when I take my friends???!!!

Thanks

Kx

I know a few of the staff from Elif (Bar not Hotel) have moved to a Hotel/Bar/Restaurant in Marmaris - that includes the main chef/kitchen staff so would imagine the food will def. be different... no idea what its like this season though as i havent yet been over.
