Hi Dan
I am sure we have discussed this over the last few weeks and will probably be locked but I would take a mixture. Stirling is always good for the markets etc.

I agree with Doz, sterling and Lira, don't bother with Euros.

I took travellers cheques as well as cash. I found that some places and the banks were charging between 2 and 3% to cash travellers cheques. There are plenty of cash machines in
Icmeler so its also worth taking your ATM card. Nationwide building society do not charge if you use your debit card in cash machines

smc is dead right there. take a Nationwide debit and credit card. No fees for atm withdrawels, good exchange rate and no silly fees on your credit card

We fly out friday, have ordered £70 worth (180 Lira) online will pick it up from the airport before departure, this is for the first day or two. The rest of the money we are taking in English as there are loads of places in
Icmeler where it can be exchanged and the exchange rate they offer is better than in blighty

jonjon when we were there last week we got an exchange rate of 2.55 to the £1 this was at the supermarket under the
ICR offices.
Most shops give a good rate as do many bars,Sugar at the Buffalo bar was giving 2.6 to the £1 so its worth looking round.
The exchange offices were only giving 2.5 to the £1.

Even the hotels are giving the same rate as the change shops, take some ten pound notes for the markets and haggle over the number of items for ten quid, most are offering 5 t-shirts for £10 but will give six without too much haggling, try sorting out say eight t-shirts you like/ sizes etc , haggle for a while and walk away, they will offer you seven straight away and if they'er having a bad day you'll get the lot, its a buyers market all the traders and bars are complaining the tourist numbers are down again this year.
