Hearing the news about the earthquake in Kent it suddenly brought back memories for me.
We were in Icmeler in 2003 or 2004 and early one morning while we were still in bed everything started shaking a bit. At the time we didn't realise it was earth tremors and my hubs said "did the earth move for you" I wont go into anymore detail  .
Anyway later in the afternoon while we were laying by the pool there was a few more and you could feel the ground moving and the water in the pool was moving too. I remember it was quite scarey  .
Later we heard there was an earthquake in another part of Turkey.

Has anyone else felt these tremors?
Do they happen very often?

Yes we were in icmeler in 2004 and felt these tremers it was quite scary at first but it did not seem to worry the turks so we soon relaxed.

We were there for the one in October 99 and it really unsettled me, so much so that we took up the offer of going home ... I wont do it again - I've experienced it now and make it quite clear to my parents etc that if it happens again, I'm staying ..... I think the saying is older and wiser .... must admit though it made me nervous at the time but the residents of Icmeler were fabulous and its quite normal in those parts.

We were there juat after a big earthquake in Turkey in August 1999and the feeling of uncertainty was awful- many of the boys had friends or family there and unsure of who was alive or dead. It was very humid that year and we wondered if it had something to do with it.

We also slept through a small earthquake one year - think we had a little bit too much of the Efes.

Like you Neets, we were in Icmeler in October '99 when they had an earthquake. It happened about 4.00 in the morning and it was really quite scary and very loud. Along with many other holidaymakers, we opted to cut our holiday short and return home the next day. However, with hindsight, we wished we had stayed and were quite upset that our holiday had ended so abruptly. It has fortunately not dampened our spirit or changed our minds that Icmeler is and always will be our favourite holiday destination! :D :D :D
