Changes

With our departure on the 25th May approaching (Very slowly I might add) I was wondering what changes we would see.

As Its been a looooong break of 4 years since our last trip to Icmeler will we notice many changes (for the better or worse) over that time.
I know businesses change hands etc and Its great to read peoples posts about restaurants, Bars etc and think to myself I remember that place!.

Looking back my two lads have grown up going to Icmeler and have always loved it ( apart from the tears every time we return to the airport) They remembered waiters from the restaurants etc. from year to year and they remembered us The kids were always treated so very well everywhere we went and were made to feel special.

It's going to be interesting to see how they see things this year especially now one of them is a ------ TEENAGER --- Aaaaaaaargh.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,
I think the biggest shock you will get is the amount of new build that has gone on up towards the Old Village and beyond.
You wont see the train because it was stopped a couple of seasons ago.

Marti have taken over all the beach area in front of their complex.
A lot of buildings have been knocked down and re-placed.
You wont see the apple pie man and a lot of the fruit se;;ers with the barrows as this was stopped.
Little shops now line both sides of the canal.
Music now goes off at midnight in most bars but there are some exceptions.

The friendly people havent changed and I think in general most changes have been for the better.

I still take the grandson, he will be 12 in June and he knows Icmeler like the back of his hand.
Where are you staying Roger?
Will have to get to one of Johns partys for a dance and laugh(I dont mean laugh at your dancing)

See you in May.

OH NO !!

What have they done to the apple Pie man !!! he was part of the street furniture (never bought one of his pies though)
Last time we used to use the train a lot because we were to lazy to walk into town from where we stayed ( and I've only got little legs  )
This time we're staying at the Captain Silver so should be well within staggering distance of most places.

As for Johns Party, if there is one I'll be there and you will be more than welcome to laugh at my dancing (No pictures though  ).

Looking forward to meeting up once again.

Cheers
Roger

I used to love the "Yapple" pie man - we used to sit on our balcony and sometimes he would stand and talk to us - its a shame he was stopped.
