Babies.. Your opinions please

Postby Bazza » 08 Apr 2007 23:02

We are still in the planning stages of our holiday in August (I know, we should have sorted it out by now  )
My daughter, her partner and baby would like to come too. The baby will be about 6 months old by then.
My question is.. Someone has no doubt taken their baby along before, is this a good idea?
My opinion is, as we were there last August, we know hot HOT it was and we struggled to keep cool so how would a baby cope not knowing what was happening.
Any opinions, advice etc gratefully received.

Also, anyone stayed at either of the Mersoy Hotels?
Thinking about staying there this year.

Thanks in advance.
Baz.

The first time we booked to go to Turkey my little girl would of only been 8 months old and we decided not to take her this time as we didnt know ourselves what the weather and Turkey would bring. When we got there though we missed her like mad and we saw loads of babies! Mostly they were all covered with sunshades bigger than the pram itself! and had as little clothing on as possible, some only wearing a nappy! We asked a woman about her little un and she said she was applying factor 50 near enough every hour. I think if you take all the right precautions then she will love it. We didnt take our little girl abroad until she was 3 but she loved it and every year as soon as the sun starts shining she says " when are we going to Turkey mum?"

We took our daughter at just under a year old, just make sure that you have a sun canopy for the buggy, plenty of fluids and suntan lotion,as high as you can.We just kept her in one of those all in one vest thingys, and if you do have her in the pool with you keep a hat on her and a light t shirt. You can also buy swimming nappies these days.Probably best to pack some calpol as well 8)

We took our daughter when she was just a year old and to be honest, there is nothing you cant get over there for babies, the supermarkets are well stocked with nappies and baby milk etc.

Its the luggage that is a nightmare as babies don't travel light do they are they also don't get any luggage allowance but you can take pushchairs and car seats with you.

Hi Bazza i have stayed at the Mersoy back in September 2005, the rooms are basic but clean, and its close walking distance to the beach and shops etc...
The Turkish bath at the Mersoy Exclusive is wonderful and well worth a visit. Treat yourself to a massage too they are lush :D The exclusive also has a lovely indoor swimming pool. So i guess either one would be fine.

The restaurant at the front of the Mersoy has always been really friendly, the guys .... Muzzy and Fonzy are soo friendly and will make you feel very welcome, they soon became good friends that we still visit.

I am sure if you take the proper precautions for your baby it will be fine, its making sure they get enough fluids as we all know how hot it can get.

Hope this has all been some help to you.

:D Pauline :D

We have three children and have taken them all from a very young age. Our youngest born last year was only two months old. However I must just add that as my husband is Turkish it was firstly to introduce his family to our children. We also went in August last year when our baby was 5 months old and whilst we were able to get everything we needed for her in Icmeler we did keep out of the midday heat. She didn't seem bothered by the heat but I wanted to be careful. Even inside she was plastered in factor 50 sun cream. In the evenings though it was fine. She was actually less trouble than my other two who were then 5 and 2!!! She slept all day which meant I actually got some rest too as it was my husband who was keeping the other two entertained all day!
