I was just wondering, does anyone know how long ago icmeler first started as a holiday resort and are there any bars/restaurants still going strong?
Also i wonder has anyone got any old pics from many years ago to post on the photo section.
I love history and would like to know some of the history of my favourite place :)

I first went in 1998 and there was only about 5 restaurants there then, when we were there the road where the waterfall is on was mostly turkish shops and residential areas

Thanks everyone that was very interesting. Even though I have been going for 10years I did not think about going to Mugla but it sounds so unspoilt in some areas that I might give it a try.
How far is it away from Icmeler and how long would it take?

My wife and I first went to Icmeler in 1995 together with our daugher who was 14 at the time. We didnt have a clue where anything was so we just walked around the place for hours. Our first memories are of walking around Icmeler looking for the Sahin Restaurant, we walked and walked for what seemed like miles, and suddenly came across this place in the square (close to where the cash machines are now), i think it is now either Bon Jour or Lighthouse, and it was only around the corner from the hotel we were staying in at the time. We laugh about it now, cos we know Icmeler as well as we know our home twn.

We met many people during that visit and they are still our friends to day, especially Yurda (Kevin) from Champange Restaurant.

There was 'Bobby Ball' look alike, who was resident dancer in Sevgis bar, Ali who run the corner shop which was next to to Sevgis and the 'towel' woman near the canal, I can never remember her name.

Icmeler was a lot smaller then, but still as friendly as it is now, and the Efes tasted wonderful. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have been returning every year since, and now our 6 year old grand daughter also loves visiting Icmeler and is the star turn in Champange Restaurant most evenings when we are there.

Lovely video, that's how I remember Marmaris from when I first went. I also remember well waking up at night to the stench of diesel fumes as the wagons bombed the sewers to kill the mossies.
