Review of our holiday

Returned to Icmeler for our 6th visit on 16th June. Stayed at the Chateau de Ville Hotel for the 5th time. Some staff changes which was sad to see but Ali and his brother called at the hotel one day when we were there which was nice. The owner of the hotel was there for most of our stay with some of his family staying at the hotel (as he stays in his summer home in Icmeler) but visited every day and chatted to everyone and on one day bought us a drink or two! Memhet was still the manager and he genuinely likes to have a chat and even play the odd game of pool with my hubby!! We normally go in May when we are usually one of the few people in the hotel but when we got there this time the hotel was approx. 3/4 full which is good for them.
Icmeler at first was quiet but by the end of the holiday (sat 24th or sun 25th) the resort was getting busier. Lots of bars and restaurants at first where quiet but picked up later on. Prices have risen slightly (1 or 2 lire put on drinks and some of the set meals had gone up in price from last sept) but you can understand that people need- to make a living. The Taj Mahal had definitely put up their set meal prices
but im not a lover of indian food !! we tried the Karalan for a few meals and were not disappointed although on our 2nd visit it was very busy and the staff were a bit flustered!! Food very good and reasonably priced. Harry Rams was good value if you enjoy fish and the café on the square (by costa supermarket) sells the best fresh orange and pomegranate drink at 10 lire for a large glass.
Sad to see the bars on the beach front on the way out of icmeler have been taken down.
Tin tins bar was busy most nights and good value drinks here. They did a mixed grill for 29 lire which was excellent value.
Looking forward to our next visit in September and we are again staying at the Chateau.
The only down side was the 3rd check at Dalaman airport at the gate when everyone had to queue up to be searched and some swobbed including children - but again it is for your safety - just a pity it wasn't organised better!!
