Is Icmeler busy ?

Postby gez45 » 30 May 2017 21:10

Hi all, returning for 2wks in July to Sun Village, just wondering for those of you that already been, taking into account the season has not long started, did you find it quieter ? as last year according to shopkeepers etc, business was way down with all the terror attacks etc. Cheers Gerry.

We just got back in the early hours and we found it very quiet - quieter than this time last year, I would say. It was quite common to walk past places in the evening which were completely empty, or with only a table or two occupied - although some bars and restaurants were busy. Quite a few hotels and restaurants were closed altogether and we spoke to some of the bar and restaurant owners we've known for years who were saying how quiet things were. The Russians are back this year - and there seemed to be plenty of them - but they stay in the bigger all-inclusives and don't spend money in the bars or restaurants. The beach was also very quiet...certainly no problem getting a sunbed! Our hotel only had about three rooms occupied.

A friend of mine was there last week, he knows Icmeler well. He used to live and work there. Told me it was the quietest he'd ever seen it at this time of year. Many places still closed, or at best very quiet. I hope it picks up for them all.

I really hope it is, but Chateau de Ville looked practically deserted this week.

we do like the chateau and when we usually go its always fairly quiet as we have been at the beginning and end of the season but it may be busier mid june? Really looking forward to being back in icmeler. it is such a shame that people are staying away and it has an effect on peoples businesses. Ive heard that TinTins has made some changes

Tin Tins has no real changes same staff but not quite as busy as normal, though still usually at least half full most nights. Still about the cheapest place for bottle of Efes at 8 lira

Overall it is still pretty quiet

From the main square, walk along the little street to the right past the Daisy Bar (used to be The Corner/Tandoori Sizzler) and Icmeler Online office and TinTin's is just at the other end of there, on the corner facing you.

Champion bar is opposite Tintins (first corner as you come from the main square) but has now been taken over by Ozzy, who used to have Ozzy's bar up towards the old village.

That's where Ozzy has gone. Brilliant. I am looking forward to next year now. Might even book for May and then again in September. Back to how I used to be.
