So Reading through this it appears you can still take things on board flying out of the UK but you will need to place them in your hold baggage flying back
Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct - it applies to flights coming into the UK from those countries.

Remember to print off your return tickets and boarding passes as you will not have access to your tablet ( that's where I keep mine as I do not take a phone on holiday )
