To drive or not to drive....

Ok, so, I'm thinking of hiring a Jeep for a couple of days while we're in Icmeler in August. This could either be a fantastic adventure, or a recipe for a particularly disastrous disaster. I'd like to go up into the mountains, maybe to Turunc or Orhaniye.

Any suggestions or tips? Or am I just being a little 'over-adventurous'?? Should I just get a mobility scooter?

Cheers folks
Paul

Hi Scouse, by asking the question deep down you know the answer.Your an experienced Icmeler goer and i reckon you would be mad to drive.
How many people do you think are insured should you have an accident ?
I went on the back of one of the locals scooter once and let me tell you i was hanging on for dear life.
Dont risk it mate.

Its like riding a bike

Once you go out the back of Icmeler you have open roads and all roads connect to Orhaiye, Selimiye, datca etc.

Go for it.

You could include it in your blog.

Ha we may even see the end of the blog one day

I agree with JT. We always had reservations about driving in Icmeler and last year took the plunge and hired a car. We went to many places that we had never visited before and it was great to get away from the usual resort holiday. I would recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I'll look forward to following your blog once again and sure it will make great reading.

I love driving in the UK but would never fancy driving abroad. Too worried about getting lost, other road users etc

If you want to explore get a dolmus to the OTOGAR, bus station and there are literally hundreds of buses to take you all over the immediate area and beyond. Not done it myself yet maybe this year. I know others have done it and its cheap and relaible

We have often done just that, smc - and for anyone not interested in driving then yes, it's an easy and cheap way to get out and about and explore. There is always someone around at the otogar who will keep you right and the buses are quick and efficient. You can go to loads of different places, everywhere from big towns like Mugla to the little more out of the way villages.
