We always take English money with us and change it while we are there, it is always a better rate to exchange in Turkey rather than at home

Hi,
We tend to take £100 in Lira, to start, then the balance in a mix of Sterling and Sterling Travelers Cheques. The cheques are insured against theft and my bank does not charge for them, also as a back up, we take a Nationwide Flexicard, to withdraw STERLING. Most banks charge withdrawal and conversion fees, but by withdrawing Sterling the Charge is £1 per withdrawal, up to £500, if you have enough in your account.  When you change your Sterling DO NOT use exchange offices, use Bars / Supermarkets. Most people will post the Best places to exchange during the season..
