Hi,

Never stayed at the Vela, but we stayed at the Navy this year for the 1st time ... Nice Hotel, close to the Beach etc ... Downsides were the Rooms were small, Balcony even smaller .... Breakfast was a no-go! Had 1 and that was enough for us ..... Better out there for you I'd say

Stayed at Vela 2 years ago and it was Ok, got it for a great price, only slightly more expensive than S/C. Rooms are good size, with a fridge and a TV with a few british news channels. Location is great right on the square and is surprisingly quiet at night.

Dont want to come across as snobby but it was a bit chavvy, plenty of families, plenty of Russians as well and most spent all day at pool getting tanked up. Even in May it was a bun fight at times trying to get a sunbed. Food was OK but as with most 3 star AI food is repetitive, plenty of choice especially salads.

Having done AI once I would not do it again. S/C IMHO is far better. Not stayed at Gondol but they get great reviews and are in a great location

Have stayed at Navy twice -it's a great location but the pool isn't anything to write home about!! Staying at the Doruk this year for the second time which is just around the corner from the Navy - much better. Breakfast is your usual cold meats, boiled eggs, olives, bread, etc. If you don't like it then there is always the option of asking for something else and paying for it of course, or going elsewhere! Friends of ours did the Vela last year and hated it!!
