it seems to have shot up again recently, i buy small amounts regularly. not sure how much higher it will go. i expect it may fall a bit after election. i wonder what rate is in resort shops ? also, i wonder if it will break the magical 4 YTL mark ?

Really ? I thought it was high last year when we were there, 3.7 i think it was, so better value again. Thanks for that.

Yes, bank rate went over the 4TL mark a few days ago - and there were reports of some places in Marmaris (and possibly Icmeler too) giving around that

That's tremendous news. I thought i was doing well getting 3.84 to the £ in UK. I just hope it stays high for when we go (early July), or at least does not drop too much. More steak for my £. :-)

Be warned, however - the elections in Turkey are on June 7 and whatever happens then could well have some bearing on the exchange rate. It's always a gamble - buy now, or hold off and see what happens.

I've bought some for my May visit and dug really deep into my savings and bought some for October, surely its not sustainable at such a high rate....is it??

The elections are due in Turkey around 7 June. My personal opinion is that before the election and after the Turkish government will step in to help boost the lira, to try and win votes. It may be worthwhile even getting a couple of hundred pounds..........

I've just got 3.84 at the post office online, but with topcashback it actually works out at around 3.89. The minimum is £400 so I've changed that, I shall change the rest in the resort.
