Hi all,
As above really.
Just wondering wether it's worth changing our money up now while the rate is so high.
But wondered if there's a limit on how much you can take in to Turkey?

Hi Art,
Yes we've always taken enough for the first day and exchanged out there, but with the rate being as high as it is right now I'm very tempted to change up some now!
Considering it was at a high of 2.93 last time we went 3.50 is a big jump in value!

I had an email off my mate who lives near Istanbul and the rate today is 3.69 and he thinks it will go higher.

When Travelling between an EU and none EU country EU law states that you must declare if you take out or bring in more than €10000
I think the above is the only limit.

Erm hang on but that would not have anything to do with this
You are taking the currency of Turkey into Turkey so I don't think there would be a limit on that

Disagree John, it is any currency and if you have different currencies and even travellers cheques they convert it and add it all up.
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/arriving ... g-cash.htmYou only need to declare cash if you are carrying 10,000 euros or more (or the equivalent value in other currencies) and you are:
•entering the UK from a country outside the EU
•leaving the UK to travel directly to a country outside the EU
If you are entering or leaving the EU through an EU country other than the UK, the declaration is made in that country.

Be a good holiday with that amount of money

, I think it's to stop money laundering, I presume bank transfers are traceable hence the same rules don't apply.

Not one to be pedantic but the question was is there a limit on how much Turkish Lira you could take into Turkey
They never mentioned anything about coming from an eu country but if you are coming from an eu country then the limit is over 30,000 lira

True, I have answered a different question.
Just presumed that the person was taking the money out from the UK so a relevant point to make.
