Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Just trying to get some life into forum!! If you could change anything in Icmeler, and this is only pretend, so its not about money or viability what would it be?. Ban MJ impersonators, or have 24 hour bars, or no AI hotels. Just wondering what folk would either do away with or bring to the resort?.
I would like some other airlines to start flying here, so we could get some cheaper flights, then I might be able to come a couple of times a year!!.

Well Keith, I think the only thing I would like to see different is one more house with a pool anywhere in Icmeler that belongs to me so I could retire fully and spend the rest of my days in that beautiful place.......no harm in dreaming is there (sigh)

good subject keith your right more airlines to dalaman where are onur air can remember getting return flights for£90 in august ,i do see tommy cook use them but limited and at high prices.limit the all inclusive hotels when i first went there was a few now more than ever it just killing the bars and restuarants trade it used to be a 6 month season for business now its probably 3 months busy other months steady trade .

Yes without a doubt. Firstly cheaper flights. I do believe tour operators
are unfairly pricing flight only, so high to encourage you to book their holiday packages.
The other is, and i am sorry if i offend anybody particularly families, but AI hotels.
They throttle the social life out of any resort, especially Icmeler which has a delicate balance.
My friends experiences of AI is poor food and cheap booze. They remind me of a form of self
imposed isolation.

There aint going to be cheap flight ,ever, so its something we have to get used to, what i cant understand is why its more expensive to fly to Dalaman with the same airlines on the same day as it is to fly to Antalya, must be Dalamans charges to the airlines, we all know their prices for food inside the airport,perhaps that is something to look at.as for AI,its the way of the world, ive done all types over the past 8 years, s/c,b&b, and AI, mind you, ate out 8 nights when on AI and didnt drink there at night, used it for lunches and breakfasts , but just liked the hotel,the holiday companies love them because they get their cut of everything, back to b&b next year in May, in icmeler, but AI in olu deniz in september ,just my choice.

My list in order would be
Cheaper flights at a decent time of day
I would bring back the little stalls to the canal area.
No all inclusive hotels
Me living there

I agree about the cheaper flights and don't think they will ever be cheap again. As stated before, there are far too many AI hotels. Personally, I wouldn't entertain them in Turkey, especially Icmeler, as there are so many lovely restaurants to try. I would defo keep the music off after 12 midnight. I am no killjoy but enough is enough! I don't agree with 24 hour bars for Icmeler; if people want that sort of resort let them go to Bar St, Marmaris or some of the Greek resorts which cater for this sort of thing. Again, I know this subject has been well aired before, but bring the stalls back down the sides of the canal get rid of the new ones. They are such a miss!! I would also get rid of the cycle path on the promenade - its a bit of a hazard and have witnesses some near misses

More airlines flying to Dalaman increasing competition and options. Reduce the amount of AI hotels , not needed in Icmeler . unlikely to happen so we must make the best of it

Think about first timers and their first impressions in the resort.

The canal stalls would be a big plus as an evening attraction after eating out.

The clashes of loud music across roads from different establishments just makes me walk past - I like to talk for at least some part of an evening out and some of the gangster swearing rap music is highly offensive to many British ears, especially anyone with young children out with them.

Lots of places advertising long lists of their staff-run attractions with different dance shows that are really amateurish and haven't changed in ten years or more!

Just came up with this on another thread but if Icmeler could be a little nearer so I could get the odd weekend flight out there. Nip out on the Friday night, come home early Monday morning. Perfect. I have thought about doing this before but with the flight times and cost, its just not possible, pity.

i would change the flight time too 2 hours, make the transfer 1 hour, and get rid of the pesky wasps!

i was stung for the first time this year, and my goodness, it packed a punch!

I would like to see the smoking ban in restaurants enforced, there is nothing worse than having smoke wafting your way, some people don't seem to care if there are children near or if some are eating and smoke regardless. It can seriously affect those with chest or heart problems. It would also be nice to have an airport nearer than Dalaman.

A cable car or funicular railway to the top of the mountains on the left hand side (back to the sea) with a restaurant/bar at the top, now that would be a view to see while dining.

The road being completed from Dalaman to take off another 10 minutes of the transfer journey.

More competition with different airlines to bring the price down a bit.

The trees removed from the centre of the pavements walking down to the Harmony bar so you don't need to walk in the road.

Reduce the use of strobe lights at every opportunity, my wife is light sensitive, we may be able to stay to see the entertainment occasionally although it is the same as 10 years ago.

The return of the tractor train, it could be made safer so the same problem doesn't happen like last time.

But even after suggesting some changes I still love the place and can't wait to return next July.

I agree an airport in mamaris hate that transfer and a sandy beach and the canel stalls back

Most of these suggestions are great but I wouldn't want an airport in Marmaris. The reduced travel time from the airport to the resort would be great but the noise would be really bad I would think from planes flying low overhead, which would ruin the peaceful resort. At least the distance fron Dalaman only affects us on the day we arrive and the day we leave. But if they can build an airport in Marmaris and sound proof the planes then that would be great

Some proper entertainment & this goes not just for Icemeler but all resorts in Turkey

My change would be to have our own nice 3/4 bedroom house or apartment with private swimming pool somewhere in Icmeler that we had bought out right. Then Icmeler would be perfect
