Evening All .... No I'm not a Policeman! lol

Can anyone advise whether to change our spends over here before we leave on the 27/9 or take a risk and change our money in Icmeler?

Mrs G wants to change over here, but I think the rate will be better over there! ... Any help would be appreciated.

Ho. No question, change it in resort as you will get a better rate. My girlfriend has been going to icmeler for years and when I first went I was jubious about changing money their despite her assurances, she was right you get better rate in resort so now days we change in resort and resort only.

We have been coming to Icmeler for years too and always changed our money in the resort but this year coming back for second time end of October have changed £400 over here only because the rate is extremely high at the mo and think it will drop by the end of season, only a guess but happy with the exchange rate we got anyway

It really depends on how much you are changing and if you think you will have any money left at the end of your holiday. So, for example, when I left Icmeler on Monday I was getting 3.13 and the exchange rate at my usual travel agent is 3.082 today. So, on £1000 you would get 48TL (£15) more in Icmeler. Also, if you think you may bring money back (I actually had a little bit left this time), you will loose a lot (around 10%) changing TL back to £. So best to change money over there as you need it.

It is a misconception that you will always get a better rate in Icmeler. If for example you change your money now at the rate of 3.11 the rate would have been better in Turkey if you could have changed your money there today.The risk is, if the rate goes down the rate at the time will still be better in Turkey than here, but you would have been better off changing our money now instead of waiting. So even though the rate is always better in Turkey it doesn't mean that you would always get the best rate for your money.

It is always a gamble but personally as the rate is so high it's unlikely to go much higher.

Does anyone change their lira back to sterling? I would have thought that everyone would keep it till the next holiday.

I'll continue to monitor the posts as I'm not going to change any until Thursday night (we fly 27/9) ... Yippee!

I have euros is it best to change them back to sterling or change the Euros to Turkish lira

Euros to Lira else you will pay twice for changing your money.
