Why is Icmeler not so busy?

Postby geordie1970 » 07 Sep 2013 11:53

Hi all, off to 'Paradise' 27/9 for a week (had 2 weeks 28/6) .... Just to ask why it seems very quiet around the Bars/Restaurants?

In our opinion it seems that the All-inclusive Hotel deals are killing the trade! .... We're off to the Mersoy Bellavista again (B&B) as we enjoy eating/drinking in different establishments, but heard rumours that they're possibly going All-inc next season!

Even last year we stayed in the Casa Blanca B&B, but were upgraded 'free of charge' to All-inc (long story!) and could use there, plus the Munamar and Munamar Beach Resort facilities, but still chose to eat and drink out on a evening ... Are we daft?? Lol

Not quiet at all now mate! Everywhere seems to be doing very well. Maybe everyone stayed in the UK while the weather was good?

Lol ... Probably Tim! ... Thing is we never have time to lie in it with so much work :?

Glad it's busier than when we were there earlier in the season, Mrs G is a Karaoke Queen and it wasn't the same with the Bars being so empty! ... Or was that down to her voice? lol

Cant answer the question of why it is not so busy, but from a personnel point of view we always go all inclusive for the security of a guaranteed meal/drink should we have any problems. Last year we stayed at the vela, we had a few drinks in hotel bar but out of the 14 nights we eat/drank out 13. We are off next week for 10 night all in but again we will be out without fail every night.

Think its a combination of things. Good weather in the UK during July, The ongoing recession, no longer cheap flights to Turkey, although there are still some and AI has also had an impact. There are however still plenty of S/C places in Icmeler.

Having stayed at VELA on AI, this year I did enjoy it but next year will go back to S?C. The food was OK as wer the drinks I just missed the intimate atmosphere and friendlyness of the small S/C

Hate all inclusive. It may be more cost effective, but, in my opinion it takes away the "Turkish" element.
Don't we all go to turkey because we love turkey. All in is destroying that.

we just got back last night, and found it quite busy. places like venice, bamboo, cupids ect were fully booked most nights, the stella show is on 4 nights, and we had to wait 3 nights as that was fully booked.

We did last wk July and 1st week Aug this year. Stayed at Rhodes. The apartments were VERY quiet in the first week, only about 4 of 18 apartments occupied. By the time we left though, the place was full to the brim. I believe it's already fully booked for those same two weeks next year, though, so maybe it was down to the good weather at home. Icmeler did seem to be quieter in general in the first week we were there. Lets be honest though, there just isn't the money around for a lot of people. Lets hope they do better next year.

We have just returned and did not find any of this, waiters not miserable and portion sizes still the same. We have not been for 2 years and apart from the new square (which in my opinion is a big improvement) and the usual changes in some restaurants and bars everything is the same. :D

Agree with you on the litter situation. We must have gone to different restaurants though as we found that every one we went to was excellent, as usual.

Maybe it's because I've been going one or twice every year for 12 years now so haven't noticed. But only been back 4 days and I was not aware of a massive increase in litter. And I think it would need 10ft high pile of rubbish on every corner to spoil my holiday in Icmeler.
Smaller meals? I am anything but a small eater and didn't clear my plate once! I know a lot of bar/restaurant waiters/owners personally and when chatting they may say that it hasn't been a very good year. But they are making the best of it and never miserable.
