back to reality...and central heating

Postby mr magoo » 19 Oct 2006 15:46

We arrived back in the early hours of tues 10th october after another fab fortnight in Icmeler. I know it's taken me nearly 2 weeks to post my report but it takes that long for the post holiday blues to lift.

We stayed in the pinewood aparts which were great, nice size, spotlessly clean, nice staff and great food and only a five minute walk from the centre of town.

Our first 2 days, tuesday 26th and wed.27th september were overcast with occasional rain coming through, but it was still warm and from then on in the weather was lovely and hot. Apparently, the weather on the Sunday before we arrived was torrential downpours. Glad we missed that.

As I said, the weather was great for the rest of our stay and it was good to lie back and soak up the sun knocking back efes after efes. You surely can't get much closer to heaven than that!?

Icmeler was, as usual, great and so were the locals. It's always nice to wander around re-aquainting yourself with people who remember you from previous years and also meeting new people who are always charming and seem genuinely pleased to meet you.

We did all the usual things....boat trips, water park, Turunc and plenty of food and drink.

We ate at many restaurants including the wayside, romance, charlie's place, cafe Rose, bart simpsons, the old famous kitchen and the lighthouse and as has always been the case, we didn't have a bad meal the full fortnight. Mind you, there must be a shed load of lambs around Icmeler with no legs!!

After dark, we hit a few watering holes and even though it was quite late in the season and was probably a bit quieter than usual, the guys in the bars were still doing their utmost to entertain us and for that enthusiasm alone you have to applaud them. Some of their dancing is brilliant and it really puts me and my two left feet to shame. Although the shows are sometimes repetetive(one night we saw the same breakdancers doing the same routine in four different bars.....maybe we shouldn't visit so many bars!) some of the moves these guys have are breathtaking. Some of our haunts were the lion bar, dream 3 bells, deja-vu, linekers, deniz karaoke place and friends bar in the square. All good nights.

I also popped into the ICR office one day just for a wee nosey and had a quick chat with Taz.....she lives in Icmeler the lucky beggar. Nice to meet you Taz.

On another of my wanders around town, I was walking by this lovely old.....no, mature couple and I heard them mentioning "our Collette" and thought that it might be theCollette. They turned out to be her parents, so I told them who I was and they said if I waited around she was in the ICR office having a gab with the staff. Well, knowing how wimmin can be when they're gabbin, who knows how long I might have been standing there  Besides, there was an ice cold efes with my name on it waiting in friends for me and although it was a close call, meeting the famous Collette or sinking the afore mentioned refreshment, I plumped for the beautiful, gorgeous.....efes  . Sorry Collette, it would have been nice to put a face to the name.

Anyway, that's about it. Another great holiday, it all seems so far away now. Ach well, there's always next year.

By the way, mrs magoo had 3 haircuts while we were out there. Yes, 3!!
Now I know what you girls are like about your hair and the guys out there do a great job, but 3!!?? Now, that's just ridiculous.
Of course, maybe I'm just jealous. 3 haircuts would last me quite a wee while.

Mr Magoo it was nice meeting you and glad to hear you arrived home safely.

Good on Mrs Magoo for tending to her tresses while you tended to your thirst with a few Efes :!:

Take care and see you next year

Hi Karent,

you might be right about mrs magoo having a handsome young man attending to her hair, but the worrying thing is that it was three different hairdressing salons she went to!!! What does that tell me??

Thank your mum for the compliment Colette, she obviously still has 20/20 vision :) Despite the mr magoo name, we are only in our thirties, it's just a nickname my pals gave me cos my eyesight could be a bit better.

I can't believe after reading the forum most days, I still managed to spell Colette wrongly in my post. Sorry Col, and well spotted Karent.

Hi Mr Magoo

Glad you enjoyed your holiday so much. We are staying at Pinewood Aparts next October and cannot wait!! Been over there 5 times now, always stayed at Pinewood. I love going back there. When you have been there more than once, everytime you go back, you are treated like royalty on arrival. Think thats the warm Icmeler magic!!

Hi Tania,

yes we've been before. This was our 5th time, but first time in Pinewood aparts. Would recommend them.
