Resort update

Postby Janine » 16 Aug 2013 11:57

Hi the last time my family & I visited icmeler was 2008 (we used to go 2/3 times per year) & we are all planning to return next year. I can imagine lots has changed over the years & we were just looking for some information (anything would be useful) to changes / updates / best places to bars/shops/restaurants /hotels etc! A few of our favourite places i can remember were The waterfall restaurant / elvis bar / Denis handbag shop are these places still there? Many thanks :D

You will see quite a few changes - some for the better but the canal will never be the same with the removal of the shops down each side. Shops have been replaced in a little square but they are not successful and have no atmosphere. The main square down from ICR office is lovely and a great enhancement to the resort. Denis - handbags is still there with some lovely bags!! Enjoy.

Thanks for ur reply & you have made my day knowing Denis handbag's is still there can't wait to re stock my handbag collection! That is a shame to hear about the canal I loved the shops either sides especially for towel shopping! I know exactly what you mean by the atmosphere along the canal! Looking forward to seeing the changes like the new square & the new bars/restaurants :D

Janine, I forgot about the towel stall. The lady who I always shopped with has now got a shop which is situated off the top road down a street after the supermarket and gift shop on the righthand side opposite No Name Bar. Hope this sounds to you clearer that it looks. If you can look at a map of Icmeler the street is Golenye Mh. Kaybal Cd. Osman Tokmak Dukknian No. 11. The street is opposite Idas Hotel. Hope you find it and also get lots of bags to replenish your stock. Happy retail therapy :D :D

The Three Bells has moved around the corner towards the old village too. The beach path to Marmaris has been re-paved and tidied up, the path to the flag is closed, and fewer restaurants do the free lavash bread. But the sun still shines, and the Efes is still cold!! Have a great hol.

Hi thanks for the info I remember 3 bells, I have cycled the beach path to marmaris before & it was a scary journey  the lavish bread & dips was a highlight I remember it was the opposite way around it was strange if restaurant didn't have the bread I understand if its not as busy though its maybe a cost to the restaurants. That's the main things as long as the sun is shopping good food nice bars lovely atmosphere anything else is a bonus! Thank you excited to see all the changes as we used to go every year & this has been a 6 years since our last visit when we return next year! Sounds like you still enjoy the resort, hope u are having lovely hol(s) too in icmeler :D
