Shave Con Merchant ........

Hi All,
Just back from our 2 weeks in 'Paradise' and went out to change a t-shirt (wrong size) myself without Mrs G (Big mistake!) ... This was our 2nd visit so I believed I was clued up to the usual banter when passing Shops, Restaurants, Hairdressers etc ... But I wasn't! .....
We were staying at the Mersoy Bella Vista and I walked up past the Scotia Pub and Tandoori Sizzler as usual, then turned left up towards the Shop I was going to, on the way past the 1st Hairdresser on the left (just past ICR Office) I was greeted with the usual 'Hi Mate, where you from?' with the customary handshake .. I was courteous as usual and said hello etc, he then asked if I wanted a shave or trim of my Beard which I declined, he then offered me a business card which was inside the Shop and invited me in ... (2nd Big mistake!) ... It was nice to be in the cool, but before I knew it he had slapped some hot green wax on my nose, offered me a seat and despite my initial protest his young boy gave me the works! (Eyebrow trim, Beard trim, Wax removed from my Nose, Neck shaved, Face and Neck washed, Forehead massaged, Aftershave, Sinus smelling salts and MORE!) ...
The boy then shouted for the 'Boss' once he finished and ushered me to the back of the shop, where he got his calculator out and expected 45YTL! .. I said 'No!' and reminded him that I didn't even want anything originally, plus over the 2 weeks I had been asked that many times about a shave etc that I roughly knew the prices, but thinking to myself that the boy had done a good job, I gave him 20YTL and the boy 10YTL ... Not a thanks from the 'Boss' who turned his back, but if that's how he gets business then I hope when we go back I see an empty Shop with the words 'Satilik' (For Sale) on the Window!
I did enjoy the treatment and will probably get it done again (elsewhere though) when we go back ... But it should have been my choice, rather than being conned ...... Just be careful if going out without the Mrs!
I have certainly learnt a lesson, but if business owners continually hound people in this way too much it will put many off from returning because of it
Thanks for reading!
