Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Here we are second week in May & the town still not looking up to scratch nor ready completely for the season: Is it just me or do others think the resort is not as clean or tidy as previous years? The streets have rubbish & debris lying around, out of town beaches dirty & not ready apart from Nirvana, mountains of something under Cafe del Mar, found a female asleep beside Beach 34 with bag & baggage 3 mornings ago, thought she was dead but no. Is the council restricted to what they are doing apart from the relaying of roads? Why does everything seem to be happening so late, is it tour operators, bars & restaurants, or people simply not coming? What do other 'regulars' think, all opinions welcome.

Sorry to hear what you are saying Roy. I am there in 4 days so lets hope things change over the weekend. I normally go in May and in previous years have always found the resort up and running and clean by then.

Thanks, others opinion might disagree. Just come back in but when out looked around & saw a lot even around main street ranging from garden rubbish lying, various bags of rubbish waiting to be uplifted as well as general litter. Some places getting organised to open but within same space of time the new building opposite Tansas for the greengrocer has being demolished & almost completely rebuilt. Also I use out of town beaches in the mornings so I noticed the lack of readiness, usual beaches are well organised. Town generally quiet still.
Not likely to spoil my time, as like last year we're spending 6-7 months here. Hopefully I haven't cast a cloud over you looking forward because everything will be fine I'm sure. Icmeler is being taken over by Marmaris council & there may be some kick-back because of this.

Wow there for 6/7 months you are lucky. When we go in May it is normally not that busy which is exactly what I am looking for. On this forum and others there does appear to be a lot of people due out over the next 10 days or so. Things may then start to move up a gear.

I find may a great time to go as the resort is just waking up everything is fresh, plants are coming into bloom and the temps are just nice not riduculously warm

Must agree, we normally go this time in May and by now everything is in apple pie order. Still cant wait to get there next week, hopefully it will all be ready by then but if not what the heck, its Icmeler

I know . It is happening just later & slower without being so driven to get everything organised. Will still be a good year hopefully.

never mind its icmeler,we all still love the place.me and the wife will be there in 31 days,not that im counting.i can almost taste the efes

Good shout Steve, I know its not nice to see our paradise a little more untidy than normal but its still the same place. I'm there in 30 days, they might have sorted themselves out by then.
