Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Hi JT, I don't know if it is too early yet, but if any of the restaurants are open would you or any other forum member that happens to be out there or going, be able to take a few pics of the set menus they have on the boards outside ? as a few of our party are keen to know the prices for budgeting.

Good idea, be nice to have a general idea of costs.

Prices never really fluctuate in restaurants much from year to year but what does happen is that red meat goes up in price so they tend to give you a smaller cut, vegetables and salads tend to stay the same so the plate still looks full

Will be there on Tuesday so will do ma best to report back !

Saw a post elsewhere which said meal prices were pretty much the same last last year, but beer prices had gone up...

Beer prices have gone up slightly typically it is now 5 lira to 7 lira, but no doubt Buffalo bar may be cheaper, it usually is

Hi, is the buffalo bar near the Blue Rainbow?, cos if it is we had some nice steak meals there for half price last year,as long as you ate before 8pm and a really nice bloke to.

Efes Bottles are 5-7 lira at most places

Other places that sell beer a lot cheaper than that normally advertise their draught beer (could be anything) cheaper

It is over 4 lira to buy a bottle of beer now in the supermarkets so dont expect to see large bottles on offer under 4 lira

And yet you still see people (not on here..) complaining about the prices going up and claiming they are being ripped off! These folk need to take a reality check and realise that it's not the fault of the bar and restaurant owners.

Across the road from Ayasofya and next to the Basilica Cistern there is a bar/restaurant/cafe on the corner just as the tram turns the bend and downstairs you will pay 14 lira for a bottle and on the roof terrace maybe 20 lira

If you go into a small backstreet bar in Istanbul then its 12 lira usually

resort prices are kept low to encourage the Brits to drink lots and then spend money on other stuff hoping they can turn a profit

I'm not complaining, JT - just looking forward to visiting Istanbul! Anyway, as this holiday is a treat for my "special" birthday, I'll be my other half footing the bill (better not tell him about the beer prices then....lol)

Blondie,you will have to visit Taksim Square when you go to Istanbul.
Loads of shops ,bars,restaurants....but as JT said,be prepared to pay the price.
Hopefully you are visiting for more than a day as Istanbul is absolutely massive,with lots do do and see.

I can go shopping anywhere in the UK but I cant go and visit the Blue Mosque or Galata here

You can shop anywhere, you will be stuffed with shops when you get to Icmeler

I hate shopping anyway, so I'll be concentrating on visiting places like the Blue Mosque....can't wait!

Quite agree, for once, with all JT says, Icmeler is dirt cheap compared to Istanbul.On the samecorner asJTis talking aboutmy sister paid 58 lira per kilo for dried Apricots!!!! She wouldn't listen and had a fit when we found them for26 lira in the Spice market. On the other hand, if you are prepared to eat Turkish and use the local restaurants in the back streets the food is so cheap and really good,only thing is of course they do not sell beer. You cant win them all
